Not Again ????

Precisely two nights ago, I found myself lying on my bed, staring at my computer screen. There was an application in front of me, and I knew I had to fill it out...

But the problem was, I had no motivation to start. I was stuck in this place of feeling defeated and overwhelmed.

Yes, it totally sounds unlike me to feel that way, but here I was actually feeling that way??

It was at that moment that I thought about a conversation I had with a friend some years ago when we were in the university.

She had asked me, "Haoma, do you ever get rejected?"

I laughed and replied, "Yes!" "Maybe even more than you."

Here I am, some years ago, thinking about this scenario as I was gathering up the courage to even input my name in the application form.

As I lay there, I couldn't help but think about all the rejections I had faced in the past few months. It felt like the universe was conspiring against some things I planned, which is actually sooooo INCORRECT!

Here's why??????

In the midst of all these thoughts ravaging my mind while I lay on my bed, something hit me.

No one ever stands up at the same spot when they fall forward. Like the guy in this picture, whenever you fall forward, if you pay close attention, you will realize that when you stand back up, you will do so in a place further than where you stood before the fall.

Mind you, this is not a mere motivational letter.

NO! Far from it!

I want this to stick to your being because it will keep you going throughout your life.

Every time you put your best foot forward and try something new/better, you never remain in the same spot you were before you tried. You gain an experience that shapes and matures you emotionally.

It's a beautiful thing, really.

So, back to my story. After thinking about all these things, I decided to stand up, take my laptop, and try my best to complete the application.

Whether it goes well or not, I am not the same person who was lying down on my bed before I decided to take the leap. I know better now.

Whether it goes well (which I know it will by God's grace) or not, I knew that I was not the same person who had been lying in bed just moments before I decided to fill out the application for that opportunity.

This is a short letter from me to you, but it's the kind of letter I want you to remember for years to come.

As I always say, every rejection is a redirection.

It's either a redirection back to the preparation table because there is something you need to do or someone you need to BECOME to maximize that particular opportunity better. Or it's a redirection to something better that your God is protecting you for.

Remember, you never fall forward and stand up to see that you are still at the same spot you were when you fell down.

Courageous steps in business, life, career, and more are like taking steps forward. And even if you fall, you will always fall forward.

In this coming week or the next couple of days, do something you have never done before. Do that thing you have been postponing because of fear!

The only capital you need to do this is courage.
