Ag Future Looks Bright for Isabelle

AC Foods (Aus) is celebrating its amazing trainees. We are excited for these young people who have decided to begin their career with AC Foods (Aus) in agriculture.

Meet Isabelle Fox, 19.

Isabelle is on a 5-week placement at Glen’s Hill citrus development located near Barooga, NSW. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Agriculture at The University of Melbourne, with 2023 being her third and final year of study.

Isabelle arrived at Glen’s Hill with the goal of gaining practical experience.

“These past few weeks have been invaluable to me. I have had the chance to talk to many experienced people, where I have been able to reinforce my current knowledge as well as gain insight into new concepts.

“I have also been able to see first-hand how recent adverse weather events have affected the farm, with a particular focus on weed management and soil health.” Isabelle said.

After completing her Bachelor’s degree Isabelle can see an opportunity to further her career in agricultural research and extension.

“Due to the volatile nature of farming, worsened by the effect of climate change, adaptability on farm is more crucial than ever before. I can see agricultural research and innovation as a really exciting place to be, now and into the future,” she said.

After also spending a semester at the Dookie Agricultural College, Isabelle has made a strong network of farming professionals.

“I am constantly astonished by the willingness of agricultural professionals to part with their knowledge and share what they have learnt with the next generation of individuals entering the agricultural sector. Already I have found a mentor who I can call on with any agronomy-related questions.”

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in agriculture to come to Glen’s Hill to gain practical on-site farming knowledge to further enhance their learning experience. The company has been professional, accessible, and easily contactable,” Isabelle added.
