After Umbrage is a small charity with a big vision, fancy hearing more about us?
After Umbrage
Our holiday cottage offers carers a calm space to rest & recharge - carers of loved ones with a life-limiting condition.
We have at least two huge pieces of news to share with you and we will do exactly that, very soon. I thought it might be good to talk about who we are and what we do because we're quite rightly proud of After Umbrage.
We're one of those small but mighty charities, we do one unique thing really, really well: providing free, short stay respite breaks for anyone who has been looking after family or loved ones with life limiting or terminal conditions.
Have you experienced life as a carer?
What changes did you anticipate having to make? We won't ask if you felt well prepared to deal with the challenges of caregiving because few of us are fully prepared for the life changes that come with caring for a loved one. Perhaps it would be useful to talk more about coping with caregiving, hence opening up this topic on Linkedin.
After Umbrage helps carers to have a free respite break at beautiful Kingham Cottage in Bath. We'd love to offer more breaks- there are approximately 5.7 million carers in the UK & Wales. Recent data from @Carers UK suggests the figure is nearer to 10.6 million. The economic value of this unpaid and undervalued work is estimated to be £162 Billion or £445 million per day.
After Umbrage has given 315 carers a free holiday over the past 24 months and we're temporarily closed for further bookings. Sad news that we can only offer this number of places when the need so is clear.
Better news will follow on soon : you'll be the first to find out if you're signed up to our newsletter.
We do need your continued help and support in order to continue to offer this unique charity break. Like to know how you can help?
Love to know if you are a carer or your company works alongside carers in some way, let's get that conversation going.
