AFTER ONE YEAR LOOK WHERE HE IS NOW!

Eric Failed Photography Class Now He Works With Stetson

This story proves that even if you fail you can be great at something. It also proves that photography is about your eye. Those who have it, have it. Those who haven't either work their asses off and never get it or just don't take good photos. Even though Eric failed photography class. He has the natural eye every amateur photographer longs for.

Enjoy this short story, Eric's going places! It was a pleasure to share his story and we're already planning some projects together. Stay tuned.

Eric moved to away to Oregon to try and work for Nike, after that failed and he moved back he got back into photography. But one thing he took from his time in Portland was his love for small business. So with his camera he started a small series #weareoklahoma centered around small businesses. This was a great project and one that we will be partnering on going forward in 2020. He shot photos of local business owners, shared their story over a three post series. This was my first time seeing Eric’s photography skills and not knowing he’d only just got into it was very impressed. Super excited to get that off the ground this year and bring it back to life.

Eric covered, Todd in the early days of Eote before the shop. Will Graeber of Graeber design. The Donut Man who works for fun because he’s a retired childrens author. Thats just a few of them. Switch to what he’s doing now…

Eric’s passion for cowboy culture, ranching, western life and country life. Lots of hardwork, grafting on the farm. His favorites from the old days are Billy the Kid, Jesse James and all the other outlaws that we read about or see on movies. After trying on his first cowboy hat he decided to jump into photographing cowboys.

Eric chased the rodeo scene around the state this summer. Went to some extremely random places. He went to Maud Oklahoma to watch and shoot photos of the rodeo. Some of these shots are on our instagram page @thisisoklahoma as well as Eric’s @eric.granado

He rode his first horse a few months back and now has a whole new level of appreciation for horses, cowboys and ranchers. Even though Eric never grew up around horses he always loved it. Wanting a red rider BB gun and dressing as a cowboy as a kid. Naturally with his love of photography and cowboys this was a great fit. Lucky for him, not many photographers are doing western photography. So he gets a lot more access than a new photographer in the street or artist photography scene.

All this access and practice led to him meeting with the socail media manager for Stetson Clothing. Yes they make hats we all know that but they also make clothes too. Eric is one of their photographers now for their #stetsonstories where he features people wearing Stetson clothing. Something very similar to his small business features at the beginning of 2019.

Eric showed me a preview of the most recent story about a boot maker in Guthrie. Oldschool molds all hand made, this cowboy boot maker has a gift and the art work produced with each boot is incredible. Can’t wait for you to see those!
