After mentoring more than 1000 successful real estate agents, here are 3 things I discovered...

And this is what I discovered on how successful realtors come to be (in my personal experience):

1. Desire To Win

It starts with the 'Desire To Win' mindset. All successful agents I meet have this trait - The mindset of wanting something more than anything else in the world. Remembering what you really want to achieve, and then working relentlessly towards your goals.

I remember having a 'Desire To Win' since young, and it started with my hobbies. I always felt the need to give it my all and be the best in everything I do. Achieving "wins" in my life left a lasting impression on me. Success after success built upon itself until winning became the norm for me. That's why this mindset of winning is so important to me, and I always share it with all the agents in Fendy Lee Group. As a result, our team always manages to double our sales. We even have a common goal of hitting our targets within a 3 month period

There are many classes that teach the knowledge and skills of a successful real estate agent. Generally what we have learnt from classes are not so important, because methods are just methods. But the right mindset can beat anyone and achieve all odds. I believe it all starts from the self.


2. Always Help People

This is a very people-focused business, and it's all about being able to genuinely connect with others. However it's not always about work or sales, as I do like to talk about their personal growth and well-being.

Since young, I've always been naturally introverted, so I always found myself to be a listener, and I genuinely enjoy listening and understanding other's views. I always find myself asking about the lives of the people and team members around me (both in their work, and personal life), and seeing if there's any way I can help with any issues they are facing.

There's a Chinese saying that goes: 假如你想快乐—个小时,就去睡个午觉;一整天,就去钓鱼;一个月,就去结婚;一整年,继承一笔遗产;一辈子,去帮助别人。 Translation: If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.

I found this to be true, both in what I practice and what I preach. The more I help others, the happier I feel. Because I know that through my actions, I've managed to impact someone else's life for the better, and it gives me a lot of fulfilment in what I do.


3. Empowering Team Culture

It's no secret that people enter the real estate industry to achieve success and make a lot of money. However, being a realtor is tough. You will experience a lot of highs and lows, and not many people can understand what you go through.

I found that the path to success is made a lot smoother with an experienced and empowering team by your side. This is how we've created the culture of Fendy Lee Group to be like. Everyone in our team (no matter seniority or position) belongs to a community, each an expert in their own field. Everyone helps one another by providing their strength, and this is how we empower each other to grow together as a team.
