Is there a life after death really? I was born as Hindu and therefore as per Hindu religion there is a concept of reincarnation which means depending upon your karma in this life you will get the next birth, if you have done good karma in your current life then you will be born again in a better state than what you are now, however if you have been doing evil karma in your life the next life would be worse than this life. Many religions, whether they believe in the soul's existence in another world like Christianity, Islam, and many pagan belief systems, or reincarnation like many forms of Hinduism and Buddhism, believe that one's status in the afterlife is a reward or punishment for their conduct during life. Hinduism do not teach the concept of afterlife as taught in Christianity and Islam, it teaches the concept of reincarnation instead. The concept of reincarnation in Hinduism is a warning that we cannot get away with the evil we do in this life but could be re-born as animals or suffer in next life.
Christian beliefs about life after death are based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christians believe that Jesus' death and resurrection are part of God's divine plan for humankind. Through his death on the cross, Jesus pays the penalty for mankind's sin and mankind's relationship with God is restored. Christians believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection are part of God’s divine plan for humankind. Through his death on the cross, Jesus pays the penalty for mankind's sin and mankind's relationship with God is restored. This is called atonement. Christians believe that three days after the crucifixion, God raised Jesus from the dead and he once again appeared to his disciples. This is taken to mean that Jesus’ sacrifice was a victory over sin and death. Although physical death still happens, those who believe in Christ and live good lives will be given eternal life in Heaven. Some Christians believe that this judgement will happen when they die. Others believe that there will be a Day of Judgement at the end of time, when everybody will be judged at the same time. Some believe that judgement will happen in two stages: an initial personal judgement when you die, followed by the definitive judgement at the end of time. Many Christians believe that after death, they will be taken into the presence of God and they will be judged for the deeds they have done or failed to do during their lifetime.
For Muslims, the Heaven is described in the Qur'an as a beautiful garden. Jannah is Paradise, where those who have been good go. It is described in the Qur'an as “gardens of pleasure” (Qur'an 31:8). Muslims believe they get to Paradise by living religiously, asking Allah for forgiveness and showing good actions in their life. Death in Islam is the termination of worldly life and the beginning of afterlife. Death is seen as the separation of the soul from the body, and its transfer from this world to the afterlife. Islamic tradition discusses elaborately, almost in graphic detail, as what happens before, during, and after the death, although what exactly happens is not clear and different schools of thought may end up with different conclusions. However, a continuity between all these ideas derived from the basic sources from the Quran and Islamic narratives. One canonical idea is, that the angel of death (Arabic: Malak al-Maut) appears to the dying to take out their souls. The sinners' souls are extracted in the most painful way while the righteous are treated easily.
Life after death. Buddhists believe in a cycle of death and rebirth called samsara. Through karma and eventual enlightenment, they hope to escape samsara and achieve nirvana, an end to suffering.Any place of existence, either of humans, souls or deities, outside the tangible world (heaven, hell, or other) is referred to as other world. Hell, in many religious and folkloric traditions, is a place of torment and punishment in the afterlife. One important Buddhist heaven is the Trāyastri??a, which resembles Olympus of Greek mythology. In the Mahayana world view, there are also pure lands which lie outside this continuum and are created by the Buddhas upon attaining enlightenment.
Many Jews believe in life after death because: In the classical Jewish tradition there are teachings on life after death. These include the idea that humans have a soul which will one day return to God. Other teachings suggest that there will be a future judgement when some will be rewarded and others punished.Today, reincarnation is an esoteric belief within many streams of modern Judaism, but is not an essential tenet of traditional Judaism. Shamayim (????????), the Hebrew word for "heaven" (literally heavens, plural), denotes one component of the three-part biblical cosmology, the other elements being erets (the earth) and sheol (the underworld).
Sam Parnia, Director of the Critical Care & Resuscitation Research Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center, recently spoke to the New York Academy of Sciences about his resuscitation science research. Dr. Parnia’s work illuminates how death is not an absolute, but a process, and what happens when patients experience death — sharing insights from his research in his own words:What is death? Death occurs when the heart stops beating. We call this death by cardiopulmonary criteria and it is how death is defined for more than 95 percent of people. A person stops breathing and their brain shuts down, causing all life processes to cease. More recently with the birth of modern intensive care medicine and the ability to artificially keep people's hearts beating, doctors like myself can keep a patient’s heart beating longer. Where people may have suffered irreversible brain damage and brain death, this leads to a situation where the brain has died, but the person's heart is still beating, so legally, they are declared dead based upon irreversible brain death, or death by brain death criteria. This happens in a small fraction of the cases where people are declared dead.
In 1991, Atlanta, Ga. resident Pam Reynolds had a near-death experience (NDE). Reynolds underwent surgery for a brain aneurysm, and the procedure required doctors to drain all the blood from her brain. Reynolds was kept literally brain-dead by the surgical team for a full 45 minutes. Despite being clinically dead, when Reynolds was resuscitated, she described some amazing things. She recounted experiences she had while dead -- like interacting with deceased relatives. Even more amazing is that Reynolds was able to describe aspects of the surgical procedure, down to the bone saw that was used to remove part of her skull.
There have been many Near Death Experiences (NDEs) recorded by science but After Death Experience (ADEs) has not yet been scientifically established or proved by science.
