The technology mogul managed to top two industries - automobile and space, with two of his firms. He now eyes a third - telecom.
Musk’s endeavour towards a telecom firm is being spun from his private space firm SpaceX, as part of a project named Starlink.
Starlink is a low-Earth satellite constellation that aims to provide broadband internet to the remotest of places in the world. To date, SpaceX has launched around 1,000 satellites for the service and is now signing up early customers in the US, UK and Canada, as reported by Bloomberg.
The big deal is that people are happy with the service and the economics of Starlink versus other alternatives. SpaceX is now working to expand this network. With Starlink being its first B2C product, it is eyeing to expand its coverage with more satellites in the constellation, more ground stations as well as an improvement in its networking software.
If so, Musk will have another strong horse to ride on in the stock market, potentially surging his wealth to unprecedented heights.
