A mayor in the Philippines was caught by surprise when two gentlemen providing technical expertise to suppress COVID-19 in her City were her high school students. After almost three decades, an Ateneo high school teacher in 1990, and now a City Mayor reunited with her high school students but today, it's her two students this time providing her technical advice on COVID-response and mitigation.
Mayor Beng Climaco of Zamboanga City was surprised to see two of her students attending a technical response meeting on COVID-19 at City Hall conference room. Dr. Noel Tarrazona, is the Technical Officer for COVID Response of USAID-ReachHealth while Dr. Joel Soria is presently the Administrative Officer of Zamboanga City Medical Center, a COVID Treatment Hospital. Both attended the City Government's meeting called upon by the technical advisers and study groups of the City Mayor.
After the meeting, the mayor wrote on her FB post, "Indeed, we can never fathom the mind of our students. They may be young, full of energy and dreams. I have always respected their views and allowed them to express themselves and fight for their rights. But this time around, it is my students who teach me. I am immensely humbled honored and grateful to God for being part of their lives."
