African Leaders Commit to Expanding Access to Sustainable Energy at Mission 300 Summit; Africa’s Progress Towards Sustainable Energy and More...

Thirty African Heads of State and Government gathered at the two-day Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where they committed to expanding reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity access across the continent. This major step aims to power economic growth, improve the quality of life, and create jobs, with a collective pledge of over $50 billion in support from Mission 300 partners to enhance energy access.


The Africa-Paris Declaration, established during the 2024 Invest in African Energy (IAE) Forum in Paris, marked a significant milestone in Africa’s pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. Aimed at accelerating the continent’s energy transition and addressing the pressing issue of energy poverty, the declaration set bold targets for expanding access to clean, affordable, and reliable energy. As the 2025 edition of the forum approaches, it is crucial to assess the strides made since the declaration and evaluate how these initiatives are shaping Africa’s energy future.


As Africa’s mining industry faces growing pressure to decarbonize, companies across the continent are increasingly adopting renewable energy solutions. These initiatives aim to reduce operational costs, achieve sustainability goals, and comply with changing global regulations. Renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hydropower, are becoming essential for mining operations in Angola, Zambia, South Africa, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), setting a new standard for the sector’s future.


Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Chairman Muhammad Al Jasser underscored the urgency of expanding electricity access in Sub-Saharan Africa during the Mission 300 African Energy Summit, which commenced on Monday in Dar es Salaam.


The Huawei Northern Africa Digital Power Ecosystem Partner Summit 2025 took place in Casablanca from January 8 to 10,?bringing together an influential mix of government representatives, business and industry partners, opinion leaders, technical experts, and associations. This flagship event highlighted the shared commitment to addressing the challenges of digital energy development.
