The spread rate of the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa?is far lower than that in other regions of the world. Up to July 20, 2022, a total of 562,672,324 confirmed cases and 6,367,793 deaths related to COVID-19 have been recorded globally. Only 1.63% (9,176,657 cases) of confirmed cases and 2.73% (173,888 cases) of deaths in the world come from Africa, the population of which accounts for about 17% of the world’s population.


Last week, E-PORTS summarized the policy interpretations on the entry policies and pandemic restrictions of some countries in Europe, North America and Asia, which attracted wide attention. This week, E-PORTS will summarize the entry policies of some African countries and recommend some African countries for crew change.


Egypt


On June 17, all entry restrictions related to COVID-19 were cancelled. No vaccination certificate or negative nucleic acid test certificate within 48 hours need be provided, and rapid nucleic acid test will not be carried out at entry and exit ports in Egypt. Egyptian airline also cancelled all entry restrictions related to COVID-19.


Djibouti


Since September 15, Djibouti has adjusted the prevention and control measures related to COVID-19


Entry personnel who have completed vaccination don’t need nucleic acid testing. If vaccination is not completed, they need to show a negative nucleic acid test report within 72 hours. If there is no report, nucleic acid testing needs be conducted at the entry point.


Cancel the mandatory requirement of wearing masks and keeping social distance in public or private places open to the public, public transport and places of worship. However, it is strongly recommended to wear masks for people who are susceptible to serious illness and health system workers on the above occasions.



It is strongly recommended to place hand washing equipment or hand gel at the entrances and exits of public or private places open to the public, especially health institutions. It is strongly recommended to ventilate manually or use exhaust fans in confined spaces (professional places, school, gathering places such as places of worship) or places where people like to gather.


All people of Djibouti and foreigners over the age of 18 must be vaccinated against COVID-19 after entering the country.



Morocco


On September 30, the National Airport Administration of Morocco announced that it would no longer check the nucleic acid test certificate or vaccine pass of entry personnel from that day on. Entry personnel only need to provide health declaration forms.


South Africa


South Africa has reopened all 32 land ports of entry with neighboring countries since August 1. Passengers who take commercial flights must be inspected by the Airport Health Bureau and the Immigration Bureau with vaccination certificates and nucleic acid test report after entering the country. If they are positive for COVID-19 rapid antigen test in the designated area of the airport, they will be put in quarantine; Passengers need to fill out the passenger health questionnaire?when they arrive.


Cape Verde


On September 16, the Cape Verde government issued a decree announcing the end of the alert status of COVID-19. Unless otherwise specified, it is not mandatory to wear masks in indoor places, public transport (land, waterway and airplane). Interisland travellers, international travellers and crew members are no longer required to show vaccination certificates or negative test report.


Angola


On September 8, Angola adjusted part of entry and exit measures, pandemic prevention blockade and quarantine measures as follows:


Continue to close the border and implement entry and exit control.


Gradually resume domestic and international regular flights. Passengers on domestic and international flights must present a negative test report within 72 hours when boarding the plane. International flights require nucleic acid test report and domestic flights require antibody test report.


Angolan citizens, foreign citizens holding residence cards and personnel of diplomatic missions in Angola need be quarantined at home after entering the country.


Cameroon


In order to be in line with other countries liberalizing travel restrictions and follow WHO recommendations, Cameroon announced liberalization of entry requirements for vaccinated travelers who no longer need to be tested before departure.


Congo


In view of the current stable health situation in the country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo decided to simplify the entry and exit procedures for vaccinated passengers. Since October 1, 2022, travellers who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 will no longer need PCR testing during interprovincial travel before arriving in the Democratic Republic of Congo and testing when leaving the country. Travellers who are not vaccinated or partially vaccinated must have PCR testing within 72 hours before travelling to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
