DRIVING IT FORWARD - AN ENTERTAINING EVENING WITH MATT PEARCE, GAVIN HASTINGS & NICK MALLETT, IN AID OF ATLAS FOUNDATION
It takes far more than a pandemic to restrain the banter around a rugby match that could have been… would that have been a victory for Scotland OR South Africa?
Iconic rugby greats, Scotland’s Gavin Hastings and South Africa’s Nick Mallett, will go head to head in a clash of the commentary, giving the audience an entertaining account of what the Scottish/SA Tour in June 2020 could have looked like. Refereed by lead commentator Matt Pearce, the audience is invited to swap the stands for their screens and join a unique digital event where Hastings and Mallett give a rendition of their imagined teams, strategies, results, the ‘whisky’ sin bins and more.
Africa Scotland Business Network (ASBN) will host this once off experience as an entertainment event as well as a spectacular fund raiser for their NPO member, The Atlas Foundation. ASBN is a growing private sector network of highly skilled business people and companies from 9 countries across Africa, Scotland and UK. Born out of a need for a diverse, proactive and progressive multi sectoral business network across Africa, this vibrant business community is bridged internationally with Scotland’s public and private sector.
Gavin, Nick and Matt are Driving It Forward for The Atlas Foundation, a global charity working on projects in 16 countries around the globe. Atlas Foundation is extremely active on the ground assisting boys and girls working towards a better future through rugby and the Atlas ‘All Schools’ programmes. Empowering youngsters with educational, nutritional and rugby character and skills, ensures that they are equipped to go on to find work and helping them break free from the cycle of poverty. Sue Anderson, head of Atlas Africa says “Being involved with large international business networks like ASBN helps us expand our reach and own networks, whilst helping us create new and exciting ways to raise funds and provide great entertainment for the public at the same timeâ€.
Atlas has recently commissioned a 42-seater Digi Bus which will be handed over to the Kibera community in Kenya. This bus is a mobile digital classroom which will travel between schools in the region. It boasts 42 laptops, a full editing suite and teacher’s station with the latest technology and will be supported by an appointed teacher/coach provided by Atlas. Two of these buses are earmarked for South Africa in 2021 for handover during the Lions Tour if sponsors and partnerships are secured!
JOIN DRIVING FORWARD ON THURSDAY 10THSEPTEMBER AT 6PM (UK TIME) 7PM (SA TIME) and enjoy world class commentary from our favourite rugby legends. The focus will undoubtedly swing from the cancelled Scotland Tour to the British & Irish Lions Tour, so be sure not to miss the insights from this respected panel! Enjoy prize give aways, a Q&A and a surprise celebrity call in and more.
The ticket fee and every penny raised by Driving It Forward online event will be directed to the Atlas Foundation Digi Bus project in South Africa. The more people who participate in the event, the more Atlas can help drive the future of South Africa’s most vulnerable children with access to sport and digital transformation. We all know “It takes a village to raise a child†…. this is a great example of the NPO and private sector joining forces as an international village for deserving kids in need.
Book your seats via Quicket: https://www.quicket.co.za/events/112517-asbn-atlas-foundation/#/. Tickets are R95 or approx. ï¿¡4.30 for this fund raiser which goes directly to supporting The Atlas Foundation in South Africa.
