Medical experts and healthcare professionals will today (Wednesday 23 October 2024) continue their annual deliberations in Cape Town, on day two of Africa Health Congress. The three-day event takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in South Africa.
“AI, Digital Health, and Emergency Medicine will take centre stage in today’s agenda while the Nurse Leadership & Management conference will address critical challenges in healthcare staffing,” says Cynthia Makarutse, a spokesperson for the organisers of Africa Health.
Day two’s programme will build on the momentum of the opening day, with a focus on technological advancements and critical healthcare challenges.
“We anticipate the CTICC to again be abuzz with energy as healthcare professionals, tech innovators, and policy makers convene to discuss key issues and forge the future of African healthcare,” says Makarutse.
The Healthcare Indaba: AI & Digital Health session, themed Hacking healthcare: African solutions for a global stage, will showcase groundbreaking developments in AI and digital health technologies. Speakers will explore cutting-edge applications of Generative AI in clinical settings and discuss strategies for transforming public health systems across Africa.
Makarutse says the session will also look at the potential and the challenges around AI-driven solutions to boost healthcare delivery, improved patient care, and enhanced operational efficiency.
The afternoon's Emergency Medicine Workshop will focus on optimisation at emergency facilities; emergency nursing as a catalyst for change; as well as the use of Point-of-Care Ultrasound and AI in emergency medical settings.

The Congress enters its final day tomorrow, when attendees are eagerly anticipating the EmpowHER Conference, the Thrive MD session on Clinician Mental Health, and the AMREF Africa Health Policy Series.
As a culmination of the Imaging and Diagnostics track, the Radiology Workshop on day three promises to deliver cutting-edge insights into diagnostic technologies and practices.
