Africa’s premier healthcare gathering will wrap up this year’s proceedings in Cape Town today (Thursday 24 October). The third and final day of Africa Health Congress 2024 will aim to maintain the energy and insightful discussions of the previous two days, with a particular emphasis on policymaking, technological advancements in healthcare, and empowerment for women in the healthcare sector.
?“The African Medical and Research Foundation Africa Health Policy Series will take centre stage, running throughout the day and featuring discussions on universal health coverage, strengthening primary healthcare systems, and innovative financing models for healthcare in Africa,” says a spokesperson for the organisers of the event, Cynthia Makarutse.
“Today’s EmpowHER Conference will highlight the crucial role of women in African healthcare, addressing challenges such as gender disparities in leadership positions, work-life balance for healthcare professionals, and strategies for mentoring the next generation of women in healthcare,” she says.
The Radiology Workshop will provide a platform for experts to discuss the latest innovations in diagnostic imaging. Key topics include AI-powered image analysis for early cancer detection, portable ultrasound technologies for remote areas, and advancements in 3D medical imaging for surgical planning. By enhancing diagnostic accuracy and speed, particularly in resource-limited settings, these innovations have the potential to improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden on healthcare systems.
The conclusion of the Innov8 Start-up Competition and the Cr8 Student Entrepreneurship Competition, also on day three, will showcase the next generation of healthcare innovators.
