Welcome to this special edition of #AliTalksTech ! We're excited to bring you live updates from the Africa Fintech Festival 2024, which begins today and runs through June 15th at the stunning Enashipai Resort & Spa in Naivasha, Kenya. This year’s festival promises to be a landmark event, showcasing the latest advancements and innovations in the African fintech landscape.

Festival Overview

The Africa Fintech Festival is a premier event that brings together industry leaders, innovators, policymakers, and enthusiasts from across the continent. It features a mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration and drive the fintech ecosystem forward.

Day 0 Highlights

Accelerating the development of green technologies is the key to unlocking a sustainable future. Smart regulations can act as a booster, not a hurdle. By creating clear, adaptable rules, we can encourage businesses to adopt eco-friendly solutions in agriculture (Agritech) and general environmental practices (Greentech). This fosters innovation and paves the way for a greener tomorrow. Think of innovative financial tools and platforms that make investing in renewable energy projects easier, support sustainable agriculture, or penalize polluting industries.

Add to this smart regulations that are designed to be adaptable and efficient. These would be key to the process. These regulations wouldn't stifle innovation. Rather, they would create a framework that encourages responsible financial products and services that benefit both the environment and the economy. We can only create a financial system that supports a greener future by leveraging fintech's agility and smart regulations.

Day 1 kicks off with a CEO's Breakfast hosted by 萬事達卡 and the topic: Africa Rising: How Fintech CEOs Can Navigate the Global Fintech Landscape.

During this breakfast, we shall discuss strategies for African fintech companies to compete globally, attract investment, and build strategic partnerships.

Moderator: Munyi Nthigah, Secretary General, Association of Fintechs in Kenya

Panelists: Esther Masese Waititu, Chief Financial Services Officer, Safaricom PLC; Kamau Kunyiha, CreditInfo; Dr Patrick Conteh, CEO, Africa Fintech Network.

We then get into the main program that will delve into Regulatory issues, rural payments, the future of smart regulations, and AgriTech.

An African-themed dinner will close the day.

Day 2 Highlights

Day 2 kicks off with a speech from Africa Nenda, and then we get into the meat of the day. Topics like Revolutionising & Innovating Payments: Advancing Digital Transactions; GenZs place in Fintech and the Digital Economy; the role of banks and FinTechs, MarTech in Fintech and others will determine the day.
