Did you know July is one of the perfect months to visit Africa and snatch a safari into and around the continent?
This July, interestingly, came at a time when the joys of the recent world sports event, the WRC 2023 Safari Rally, are yet to leave us. The sweet memories are still lurking, and the dust is slowly settling.
From June 22 to June 25, 2023, motorsport enthusiasts worldwide gathered in Naivasha, Kenya, to witness the momentous occasion as the Safari Rally marked 70 years of hosting the iconic race.?
This edition monumentalized the rally's 50 years as a world championship, a remarkable milestone in the history of the adrenaline-fueled event.?
Naivasha, known for its breathtaking wildlife, picturesque luxury hotels, and thriving flower farms, became the epicenter of motorsport enthusiasts and adventurers alike.?
Celebrated for its rich biodiversity and captivating landscapes, Kenya was set to showcase its natural wonders to a global audience.?

With the proximity to Lake Naivasha and the awe-inspiring Hell’s Gate, the perfect blend of adrenaline-pumping action and stunning scenery.
The 70th edition of the Safari Rally provided a captivating showdown between two motorsport titans, Sebastian Ogier, and Kalle Rovanpera.?
Ogier, an eight-time world champion from France, held a slim 13.6-second advantage over Rovanpera, a Finnish professional rally driver and the reigning champion and points leader for 2023.?
Within 3 hours, 30 minutes, and 42.5 seconds of his total time, Ogier emerged victorious, claiming victory in the 70th edition of the Safari Rally Kenya by a breathtaking margin of 6.7 seconds.
It was entirely spectacular and awe-inspiring.
As the engines roared and the adrenaline soared, the Safari Rally ignited a passion for motorsport and created a thriving space for economic growth.
Actually, the aftermath of the iconic event is economic growth, a boost in the tourism sector, and enthusiastic pursuit of the productive partnerships made during the occasion.
Kenyans' pride in their country is also on another level.

Such adrenaline-fueled events are good for our mental and physical health, as jumping up and down and cheering on the competitors are enough physical exercises to refresh the body and mind.
Remember, research indicates that Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), which comprises nearly 1.2 billion people, bears the greatest risk of most preventable and treatable diseases, considering that the region comprises developing countries.

To address these challenges, much is being done through forging and nurturing partnerships between corporate, public, and civil society to synergize efforts toward improving healthcare services in SSA.?
Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) are taking center stage in combating most of these diseases.
World Health Organization approximates that?HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria claim approximately 3 million lives in the region annually.
Racey Muchilwa , President and Head of Novartis Sub-Saharan Africa, weighed in on this matter of how PPP can help SSA dig itself out of the weighty health burden.
“PPPs can create a common understanding around critical health needs, harness different strengths, and cultivate shared accountability between partners,” she writes.
She further points out that the goodwill by governments has also enabled pharmaceutical companies to take up an active role in ensuring the SSA region is not excluded from accessing medicines and therapeutics.?
For instance, in Kenya, Malawi, and Nigeria, partnership with the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN) has helped to advance work in reducing the environmental impact of antibiotics, improving access to anti-infectives, building the capacity of healthcare workers on the rational use of anti-microbials, and aligning channels for research and health information sharing.

It addresses various challenges, including waste management, food security, and sustainable agriculture.?
By utilizing the larvae of black soldier flies as a substitute for conventional feed ingredients and converting organic waste into fertilizers rich in nutrients, this farming method effectively turns waste into a valuable resource.?
