Afraid to Ask a Question?

Let me ask you…
What’s the worst thing that could happen to you during your public speaking engagement?
Is it no one showing up?
Would it be forgetting what you’re going to say next?
Or is it about you making a fool of yourself?
If I had to choose…
I’d pick the last option.
Of course, each and every one of these scenarios is bad.
But I believe the worst thing that could happen is for you to make a fool of yourself during the speech.
And one of the ways that this could come true is this:
Nobody puts up their hand when you ask a question.
That’s as if nobody even listened to you, to begin with!
So, how exactly can you get a good response out of a question?
Let me give you three tips to do just that:
Tip #1: If no one responds, make a joke out of it.
If no one responds to your question the first time…
You could still make a joke about it.
That way, it would be unlikely that nobody would put up their hand in the end.
Tip #2: Don’t be afraid to ask twice.
There’s no shame in asking the question twice.
Sometimes, your audience might’ve just not heard you…
Or, they weren’t really paying attention the first time you asked the question.?
Asking again won’t hurt…
And it would increase the chances of getting a good response.

Tip #3: Practice asking your question.
I get it.
It could feel uncomfortable to ask a question to a crowd.
That’s why you need to practise.
It’s the only way you could feel comfortable…
And it’s the only way you’d get good.
And this wraps up the three tips on how to elicit a good response out of a question.
I hope that, with this, you’d be a lot more inclined to ask a question to your audience.
But if you’re still having trouble though…
