"Collaborating on financial education is vital for equipping our students with the skills necessary for their financial well-being. Together, we can build a sustainable future.". This is how Dr. Sameera Abdullah Al Hosani, Director of the Curriculum and Languages Department from the Ministry of Education in the UAE highlighted the importance of the Advocacy Workshop hosted by Emirates Foundation , in collaboration with Aflatoun International, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and Visa.

Aflatoun actively contributes to the global advancement of Social and Financial Education
Last month was key for Social and Financial Education and for Aflatoun as we got the opportunity to present at two essential events to advance social and financial education and inclusivity across the world.
Aflatoun proudly co-organised the high-level side event during the UNGA79/Unstoppable Africa 2024: "Africa's Digital Revolution: Guaranteed Futures" alongside UNAIDS Education Plus Initiative and the Global Africa Business Initiative.
The discussion centred on empowering adolescent girls in Africa with vital digital, financial, and entrepreneurial skills. Government leaders, UN agencies, the private sector, and NGOs came together to explore ways to mobilize investments and create opportunities that equip young women for success in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The takeaway from the event was clear: all girls in Sub-Saharan Africa must have access to financial education. At Aflatoun International, we are committed to ensuring adolescent girls gain the skills they need to thrive both economically and socially.
On October 1st, our Co-CEO Lama Yazbeck presented at the Global Currency Forum in Oman, discussing 'The Role of Institutions in Driving Financial Inclusion through Social and Financial Education.' The emphasis was on the crucial role that central banks and financial institutions can play in supporting and providing both technical and financial assistance to governments in promoting the integration of social and financial education into school curricula.

Empowering Women through Financial Education as a Driver of Financial Inclusion
Empowering women through financial literacy is a key driver of financial inclusion and economic resilience. BRAC's recent article reaffirms one of Aflatoun’s strong beliefs: providing women with essential social and financial skills is critical to overcoming barriers to economic empowerment.
Together with BRAC, one of our valued partners in the Aflatoun network, we are committed to empowering individuals to take control of their financial futures. Aflatoun’s goal to empower 60 million youth by 2026 reflects our belief that access to social and financial education is vital for breaking the cycle of poverty.
Our shared efforts continue to pave the way for lasting financial inclusion. read the full article here?

The extension of our partnership with the Nationale Postcode Loterij continues for another five years!
Since 2010, Aflatoun has received an annual contribution of €500,000 from NPL, which has been crucial in empowering children and youth through our financial education and social development programs. These funds have supported the creation and implementation of our innovative educational resources—including the latest refresh and redesign of our AflaToun and AflaTeen curricula—delivered through our esteemed partners to empower young people globally.
Thanks to the continued support of NPL and its dedicated participants, Aflatoun reaches millions of vulnerable children—from Roma children in Slovenia and AIDS orphans in Malawi, to internally displaced children in Syria, vulnerable girls in the favelas of Brazil, and street children in India—equipping them with the essential social and financial skills they need for a brighter future.
Following a recent evaluation, the Nationale Postcode Loterij has declared its further commitment to Aflatoun, highlighting the impactful results of our collaboration.
