Affordable Digital Humans

TNG Visual Effects has entered a partnership with Cream Digital Inc. a cutting edge Canadian company who has developed Dynamic Digital Humans (DDH), in a partnership with Sheridan Colleges SIRT (Screen Industries Research and Training Centre). DDH is a proprietary technology/method of creating photorealistic run time avatars that won't break the bank. Utilizing this technology and TNG’s long history of 3D visual effects, TNG and Cream will now be offering this service.

When making digital doubles for XR (VR/AR/MR), the further you venture towards photo-real the exponentially more expensive it gets. In TV, feature films, and traditional gaming, there is a well-established market of potential consumers, in virtual and augmented reality the marketplace is still fledgling and comparatively small. There is a hard cap to the amount one can invest in an XR product before recouping your build costs becomes impossible. Dynamic Digital Humans is a proprietary, market-ready solution using a blend of traditional methods. DDH avatars can be created using a minimal set of head scans and a single head-mounted camera capturing performance. This method employs the best of traditional animated models, automated rigging systems, motion capture, and high-resolution video. We combine the optimized animated model with video textures, allowing for dynamic lighting and interactivity. The results are AAA game quality, super lightweight, avatars (5 meg/minute) that are significantly less expensive and much faster to create than a traditional AAA gaming avatar, also much smaller files than videogrammetry “hologram people”. All that’s required is a base set of 25 expression scans, combined with the DDH standardized HIK animation rig. We capture the actor's performance from one helmet-mounted camera (HMC). 3D motion is extracted and synchronize with the high-resolution video to bake it all down into the material of the animated model.

TNG and Cream Digital are now offering production-ready avatars for real-time engines and inline renderers, which can be captured in TNG’s studios (LA, NY, Toronto, Vancouver) or on-site, enabling quick turn around times rather than several months. Finally! interactive, game ready, digital humans, with some of the best visual mouth speech synchronization on the market, is now within your budget!
