"Affordability Unlocked: A Mindset for Limitless Possibilities"

How many of us stop in our tracks simply because we think that we cannot afford it? Be it taking a course to enhance our skills, going on that dream vacation, or even a lifestyle change, we seem to put boundaries on ourselves just because we believe that we cannot afford it. What if affordability is not just about money? What if it's a mindset, an attitude that lets us look beyond the narrow veil of financial constraint and explore possibilities instead?

We've all been there. Maybe it's the dream of something—a new venture, a career change, or even on a personal level—a goal that the first hang-up is cost. Affordability is equated to money and pounds, but more often than not, it's not about the bank balance. It is how we position our priorities, how we use our time, and how we envision the resources already before us.

Beyond the Price Tag

Let's take a simple example. Imagine you want to learn something, like photography or painting. Perhaps the first thought is, "I don't have money for expensive equipment or classes." And if you look around closely, you find free tutorials all over the internet, the basics can be grasped with minimal equipment, and practice is something that money can't buy. It's about how you approach the challenge—your willingness to find a way, even if the path is different from what you initially imagined

Affordability is not only a matter of money; it is also a matter of how much you can invest your energy and time. We'd say we can't afford a healthier lifestyle when walking more, cooking simple meals, or finding the space to rest doesn't always cost money; it costs a shift in mentality and priorities.

The Power of Prioritization

We have much more resources than we think. What we afford is determined by where we place our time, energy, and attention. While many of us argue that we cannot afford breaks or better quality time with our families, are we being overwhelmed by the real cost? Or are we simply letting ourselves get overwhelmed by our work or obligations? Now, when we put what matters first, we discover that affordability is flexible and bends toward our choices.

The same with who we are on our own and in the workplace. Do we value learning, self-care, or tending to relationships? These don't necessarily have a price tag on them but do require time, work, and a mindset that says, "This is worth it."

Making Room for What Matters

Affordability, if seen as a headspace, gives us room to be in things that we really want. It forces us to be resourceful, look beyond the obvious, and recognize that at times we have control over the situation that lies before us, either more than we thought or even at all. Perhaps we can't afford something at this moment in life, but what incremental ways can we do that create some kind of reality? Can we adjust our priorities and go at things a little differently?

Often, it is not the cost that becomes the obstacle to affordability but rather the belief that we are incapable of making it happen. Having gotten rid of the limiting belief that we cannot afford this or that, we open the possibilities. We go out in our minds and ask ourselves how we can afford this instead of why we can't afford this.

The Journey to Abundance

Being affordable, in most ways, is not only an issue of money but also how we think about life itself. At times, we might think that abundance is an opportunity that was once an obstacle for us. We become resourceful, innovative, and resilient. Whether in pursuit of a dream, investing in ourselves, or taking time to do something that matters most, change begins in our mind.

If we want, at the end of the day, we all can afford what really matters if we are willing to look beyond the numbers, if we are willing to see the wealth that already exists within us. So let this be a reminder that the life you want may be more affordable than you think.

In The Journey from Human Being to Being Human, that shift in point of view—affordability becomes a mindset—is the approach toward living a rich and meaningful life that cultivates abundance.
