Affirming Gilbane's Safety Non-Negotiables

Affirming Gilbane's Safety Non-Negotiables

Is it clear where you work which behavior is safe and which is not and how best to protect people exposed to dangerous conditions?  Recently at Gilbane,  we had all our Senior VP's and Executive Management reaffirm our "non-negotiables" for all our construction sites.  These apply to all who enter our job sites.   We believe it is important that all of us feel empowered to stop unsafe behavior not only on our job sites, but in our offices.  Uncertainty of our Gilbane mandates is often a reason we rationalize not taking the initiative to call out someone on unsafe behavior. But caring as a core value is not about a list but about really caring for each other's well being.  With this list top of mind we can all be on the level with confidence as we watch out for each other.

Stay safe,

McK

Gilbane has an outstanding safety program with a record demonstrating its success. Beyond cooperation with the program is the focus on each individual's safety, health, well being, involvement, responsibility, and ownership of their part. The all inclusive perspective towards all facets of the program may be the most crucial element of its success.

Great way to push safety to the front, more other firms need to embrace this type of stand.
