is your Black struggle "Black enough" to get a loan?

With Affirmative Action gone, the SBA will make Black Businesses sing the blues for loans.

In the wake of the SCOTUS striking down Affirmative Action, the US Small Business Association is being forced to change its policies on loaning money to Black owned businesses in America. The following illustrates how.

BLACK BUSINESS OWNER: Hi, I’m here to apply for an SBA [8a] small business loan.

SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION: Sure. Tell us about you.

BBO: Well, I’m Black entrepreneur ready to change the healthcare diagnostic services in my community. My business plan is—

SBA: Have you struggled or suffered?

BBO: Huh?

SBA: You’re a Black business, right?

BBO: Yeah—

SBA: We can’t consider that unless you can prove that being Black has been a noose—

BBO: —A WHAT?!—

SBA: "A Nuisance"? Due to the recent Supreme Court ruling, the SBA cannot approve Black businesses for SBA (8a) Loans unless you can demonstrate that being Black has been so egregiously unfair that it’s disadvantaged your ability to function properly.

BBO: Now wait—

SBA: And you have to answer in essay form.

BBO: Like homework?!

SBA: More like a college admissions essay. Speaking of which: Did you go to college?

BBO: Depends. Can my college degree count against me?

SBA: Probably. I mean, How hard is it to be Black if you conquered college?

BBO: Unbelievable.

SBA: Sorry, SCOTUS rules.

BBO: Wow... Um, okay. I got one.

SBA: Lay it on me.

BBO: Here goes: Despite Black Americans being nearly 15% of the US population, only 2.4% of America’s employer-businesses are Black-owned, with Black women being America’s fastest growing group of entrepreneurs overall. But because Black startups get less than 2% of all venture capital funds and only 1% of bank loans most black business resort to self-funding. Consequently, as a disproportionately percentage of Black businesses continue to fail, their founders are often driven into personal financial ruin.

But because some white guys and Asian Americans felt that Blacks were "getting too much help" they sued. Case got fast-tracked to the U.S. Supreme Court where a body of majority White Conservative justices struck down Affirmative Action to teach us Blackety-Blacks a lesson in fairness.

This ruling has lead to lawsuits against Black venture capital funds for loaning money to Black businesses schools, military academies, and any org making efforts that seem favorable to Black businesses and Black people at large. And now corporations are rolling back DEI efforts which will not only impact Black employment, but also affect Black business looking to fairly bid on vendor contracts.

Meanwhile the SBA, which is mostly non-Black, is telling Black businesses that we have to go convince them that we’ve suffered enough as Black people to get a business loan. And the standards for our suffering are set by people who aren't even Black.

So, how’s that?

SBA: Boring. Hey, ever been shot?

BBO: REALLY?!

SBA: Inner city life is sympathetic. How 'bout the n-word?! Stop-n-frisked?!

Black Business Owner: I quit.
