Who is SnackNation?

This company first appeared on my radar in 2023 when I was researching potential affiliate partners for one of my customers. Unlike the standard websites with affiliate links, SnackNation is a blog of a real company running its own business. It operates as a healthy office snack delivery service, founded in 2014*

As a venture capital-backed enterprise, SnackNation has secured a total of $20 million in funding through three rounds: one in 2017 and two in 2018. Additionally, in 2018, the company acquired two others: Love with Food and EdgiLife Media**

The website lists two co-founders, Andy Mackensen and Sean Kelly . Although specific revenue data is not readily available, it feels like given the typically low margins of subscription box businesses, the founders started a new platform in 2020 called Caroo — an employer recognition platform, as reported by Forbes***

While this website is still active, it doesn't boast the same SEO metrics as SnackNation .

Why are They in the Affiliate Game?

It's not common for corporate websites to feature affiliate links in their content. While most blogs have outgoing links to other company websites, these are typically not affiliate links.

My interpretation of this anomaly lies in the founders' association with another company, according to their LinkedIn profiles: LeadRoller . Described as a proprietary B2B media network with over 1 million monthly visitors, LeadRoller, founded by Andy Mackensen , Sean Kelly , and SnackNation's Head of SEO Richard Fendler assists top-tier SaaS companies in generating leads and revenue.

This leads me to believe that the SnackNation website is part of a new business aimed at helping SaaS companies grow.

A quick search uncovered other websites associated with this network, including Ulike Global , QuizBreaker , Southland Data Processing, Inc. , Dupe.com (formerly Carrot) , Giftpack and more, although with lower traffic.

I even found a SnackNation affiliate link promoting SwagUp on the Vimeo blog.

That's impressive, I like this business model.

What are the Metrics?

Here is a screenshot of SnackNation's blog metrics from Ahrefs .

SnackNation's blog organic search and backlink profile

The organic search performance is impressive, although it has experienced a decline in the last six months.

I've compiled information about affiliate links and the companies promoted in the blog, along with an estimate of the monthly views that pages with these links receive ??

SnackNation's partners with description and estimates

Here are some notes:

- there are 1,000+ ShareASale.com links leading to a variety of products. This operates as a publishing network, and you are rewarded per click or sale

- there are 1,000+ affiliate 亚马逊 links directing to products

- there are almost 4,000 SelectSoftware Reviews links leading to different pages and products, suggesting a PPC or PPA deal

- most popular partners are monday.com , SwagUp , Unboxed Experiences , Bambee .

Partner profile

Based on the research I would say that HR software, services, and project management tools are the top preferences of SnackNation's team. If you are interested in partnering with this website to get the attention of HR teams, I recommend reaching out to the LeadRoller team either through their contact form or LinkedIn page. Update: you should be ready to spend $15k in 3 months to start.

Thoughts

My personal take is - every company with a successful blog should consider diving into affiliate partnerships like SnackNation did. If you're a SaaS and you've invested a ton into your content, backlinks, and staff, why not create a separate revenue stream by putting affiliate links into your content? It can be quite notable, given that many companies offer a lifetime 20-50% revenue share.

I always say that every company is a media company. So, if you have your audience, you can monetize it.

And no, it will not hurt your brand. You already have those links, but they just not affiliate ones.

  • if you have your audience and ready to discuss affiliate partnerships, feel free to drop me a DM ??
  • if you're a SaaS company with an affiliate program and are looking to recruit affiliate partners, drop me a DM ??
  • if you want to get a list of Monday, ClickUp, and other software affiliate partners, drop me a DM ??

Next week I'll cover another exiting research. Stay tuned ??
