Hey Remote Creatives!
Welcome back to another edition of The Remote Creatives newsletter!
In this edition, we'll be talking about affiliate marketing: which is essentially a way to receive extra money made through referrals from your website or social media content. It's thought of as a passive income, and it can be, but there is a little active effort that needs to be put in first. So let's get started with the basics:
1. Choosing Your Products: A common mistake is to say yes to every affiliate and referral scheme out there, however best results actually come back from things that are not only relevant to your content, but also that you are genuinely interested in and use often.
2. Content is King: Produce high-quality content that clearly but seamlessly incorporates affiliate links and products. Think gear reviews, software tutorials or travel guides.
3. Diversify Your Platforms: Consider leveraging Instagram, YouTube and other platforms like TikTok to share affiliate links. Each platform offers unique ways to showcase products.
4. Disclose, Always: Audiences are a lot wiser to undisclosed ads now, and trust is crucial to brand always. Maintain this trust by always disclosing your affiliate relationships.
5. Use Analytics: A lot of companies won't actually give you access until you've fully set up an account, but make sure you can follow up on your results. Take a look at what's working, what isn't. What's getting clickthroughs and what isn't, so you can continue to successfully make that extra income.
6. Have Patience: While this can be a passive source of income, it does take some time to build and maintain and it may take a little bit of time before you see return. Some creators are able to see decent returns quicker by becoming an affiliate of higher ticket products, like tours or tech, but as a general rule of thumb it's just a good idea to mentally prepare for the 'long game'.
So what will you be picking first?

On The Remote Life This Month
We were incredibly excited to chat to Rebecca Hawkes, Hannah Dixon and Skerd Sino on the podcast this month, find the episodes here.
Remote Creative Destination of the Month
We're just wrapping up a few weeks of travels in Türkiye and we have to say we'd highly recommend that remote creatives check out the area of Kadik?y in Istanbul and Uchisar in Cappadocia (for longer than the typical 2-3 days anyway). Check out the Han Meets World blog for more about this.
We have just one more week in Istanbul now and then we're on to the next destination!
See you there!
Han
