Afamado Values - A Story of True Ownership
That time was working with Afamado, a fashion industry brand who are into Plus size dresses for women, as a digital marketing manager. I had a very BAD habit of checking sales number many times in a day. I slept after looking at the Sales Number. I woke up and that was the first thing I checked.
One day, I came back from office, was having my tea & saw sales numbers are going high, in a matter of hours it was 2 times than regular.
Obviously, I was congratulating myself for those changes in campaigns I made today.
Next day, when I woke up, I saw the sales number is 3times, I realized, this can't be true, something for sure is not right. My mind raced, imagining different scenarios something was wrong with our payment gateway or we had been hacked. And so on…
I rushed to office. I found 3-4 people huddled together. Kirti Rasiwasia, the Engine of Afamado team, who magically managed catalog, pricing, customer service, social media marketing, influencer marketing single-handed at that time, was at the center, without me asking, Kirti shared what had happened. While working late night someone has mistakenly created a coupon which made all the products almost free.
She had since reverted the change and worked with Priyanka & Debasish to cancel orders and inform the customers. Kirti Jhunjhunwala, Farah Haque had started calling up customers to cancel their orders.
The ownership with which Kirti and her team handled the situation was exemplary And, most of all, the others in the team being able to understand the gravity of the situation and set aside their priority lists… to me all of this was Ownership. They thought about customers first, not about sales. There was no blame game, nothing!

That's what defines culture and values is how we act when in difficulty. That’s probably why this incident has stayed in my mind as an example of many Afamado values.
