Aerospace SIG Takes Flight

Aerospace SIG Takes Flight

Happy New Year NSBE Aerospace SIG Members, Industry Collaborators, and Partners!

With the closing of 2023 and the welcoming of 2024, I am incredibly excited about the work our volunteer leaders, members, and partners have done and will continue to do across the Aerospace Industry globally.

“We cannot create what we can't imagine.”― Lucille Clifton

Building upon our theme of intentionally sparking creativity, our programming expanded across the US, Africa, and the Caribbean, catalyzing technological innovation hubs and future socioeconomic opportunities. We have grown our outreach programming, refined our internship program, hosted the Aerospace Systems Conference through our Aerospace SIG Localization Initiative, and expanded aerospace advocacy and technical development programs by engaging with industry forums, strategic partners, and collaborators. As we move into 2024, there will be new technical challenges as organizations continue exploring new frontiers, protecting our nations, and transforming travel through aerospace solutions. Engaging in one of the Aerospace SIG Divisions (i.e., Technical Research, JEDI Outreach, Advocacy, and Technical Development) provides an opportunity to sharpen one's skills through strategic networks, research, experiential learning, and outreach as a catalyst of innovation.

In making New Year's resolutions, explore engaging NSBE Aerospace SIG as a partner in broadening your technical depth and ability to innovate aerospace industry solutions while guiding future generations.

“I was able to stand on the shoulders of those women who came before me, and women who came after me were able to stand on mine.”?- Dr. Christine Darden, Human Computer & Aeronautical Engineer for NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration

Dr. Darden's words apply to each person, where your experience is your currency for new opportunities and a catalyst in creative thinking that can generate innovative solutions. The experiences through the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) as a mentor, volunteer, and/or program participant are the shoulders that do and will continue to expand NSBE engagement in the aerospace community from a policy, research, and development standpoint in 2024!

This month, we will launch our early career in the aerospace prep series, recruiting participants and supporters for the NSBE Jr Fire Rocket Program, attending AIAA's SciTech Conference, launching our Aerospace SIG history initiative, kicking off our Technical Research Division meeting series, and planning our aerospace leaders summit.
