Advocacy 'Dos'

This great and on point list for NFPs and charities contains tips on how to structure your advocacy and communication documents for policy makers in order to be most effective and achieve the best results. When working with government, my motto is always ‘know your audience and make your argument simple, clear and backed with easy to process data.’ If you need assistance drafting your next advocacy document, message me for more information.

For emailing to clients:

This list of tips for effective communication with policy makers is a great resource for you to have on file and for use when shaping communications documents. It also ties in well with my advocacy ‘Dos’:

  • Do know your audience
  • Do keep it simple
  • Do show them what is in it for them
  • Do back it up with strong electorate mapping data and case study examples (preferably infographics)
  • Do remain bipartisan
