Not advising against advice
Google popped this one up in my feed: a Times of India web story testing the difference between commonly confused words. Considering that's a topic near and dear to my heart what's the difference, if any, between advice and advise? Are they merely regional variants of the same word? Even now, my Grammarly Chrome extension is exhorting me to switch "advise" to "advice", the more commonly used of the 2
Merriam-Webster sums up the difference nicely here . For those who don't like to click through, it's really simple: I could advise you, or I could give you advice. If you weren't clear on this, you're not alone: the screenshot above is from that web story , which incredibly, got this exactly backward
On a completely different note, if I may advise you, as I watch Mayo get his first Gatorade shower: don't sleep on dem Pats ;)
