Adventures of JBlaze at Token 2049: Day 1 (Sept 16)

Flying from Manila to Singapore for Token 2049, I had no clue what to expect. So, why not document my whole adventure as it unfolds? Here’s a little recap of Day 1 (Sept 16) so you can join in on the fun with me!

Flying time again ^_^

The flight was smooth, but sleep? Nope. Too excited, I guess—it's been 5 years since my last trip! When I landed, Singapore airport blew me away: sleek, modern, automated immigration (yep, no stamps), and a mall connected to it. Not just any mall, mind you, but one with stores I’d only ever seen online! After gawking at it all, I was starving and had to try the Big Mac meal at McDonald's. It’s my go-to back home, but this was next-level! Fresh veggies, bigger portions—let’s just say, Manila McD’s has some catching up to do. ??

Still can't get that jingle off my mind

While exploring, I heard a familiar jingle. If you’ve played Yakuza, you’ll know it—the Don Quijote theme! To my surprise, the actual store was right in front of me. Of course, I popped in, luggage and all, before finally heading to the hotel.

Team Trinity Pad with their PR partner and Me

Later, I met up with the TrinityPad team at LAVO at Marina Bay Sands. The view? Insane. I felt like I was towering over the city like Godzilla (without the destruction). I caught up with my friend and former boss, Victor from Rainmaker Games, and got to meet the rest of his super-talented team (Damoon Ong, Ghulam Haider Nurul Z. Elsie Lai, Atlas Arman and of course Windy Tan ). It felt like a group of old friends coming together. They discussed plans for TOKEN2049 , while I threw in a couple of ideas of my own. It's always great when ideas just flow.

In the evening, I attended a community event full of VCs, investors, and Web2/Web3 pros, but on a more family casual vibe, but don't get me wrong the energy was still buzzing. Victor absolutely killed it with his talk about Trinity Pad. His charisma was on full display, and people were locked in. Big win for the team.

Victor doing his magic

I also hit up a few other events hosted by different groups and even got to meet people I’ve only connected with online. The OKX event was the grand finale, but the line was LONG, and after a full day, I had to tap out. My roommate Atlas was braver and stayed behind while I headed back to recharge for Day 2. ??

Day 1 set the tone for an epic week, and I can’t wait to see how the next few days unfold. Let’s see what new connections and adventures await at Token 2049 Singapore
