Adventure Sports and Rehabilitation
Simon Dickinson
Talent Acquisition Leader @ Vitacress | Driving Talent Agenda, Employer Branding, Building Talent Strategy and Resourcing Capability
Assessing an individual in preparation for writing a Jacqueline Webb report can at times involve a claimant who participated in an adventure sports activity before their catastrophic injury.
For example we had a case in which the claimant had been an active adventure sportsman before his accident. Specialist equipment including a paragolfer, and cross-country ski equipment needed to be provided, to restore his life as nearly as possible to his former lifestyle.
Adapted sports equipment such as riding saddles to dancing wheelchairs are on the increase. The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) publish 'Rebuilding Lives Through Sport' which looks at the effects sporting activities can have on rehabilitation. It also contains information on adapted equipment and support organisations.
Being able to establish the real-world cost of restoring a claimant, as nearly as possible, to their former lifestyles is the main goal of the Expert Witness.
If you would like the opportunity to use your knowledge and experience with the freedom to make a real impact on a claimants lifestyle, then please visit our website for more information on the role.
