The Adventure Photographer

There seems to be an outrageously huge disconnect of the knowledge of what an adventure or expedition photographer truly does/ is.

Being behind the scenes, over looked for all but their ability to capture a moment and share a journey. The misconception is, these people are often more beyond human than that of the athletes they capture. Not to down play them and their achievements, but more often than not, the photographer, must train the same, accomplish the same, be up before and lay their head down far later, upon the same ground as their subject.

They must run ahead, and fall behind, to then catch back up with out delay or impact upon the feat. All this, whilst hauling the same gear, food, clothes, water and upwards of 50lb extra of camera equipment.

Perhaps rather than looking upon just a photographer, we should all stop and remember, they don’t just take photos, they put in the work too, without gloating, accolades, or an ego; Simply a tiny photo credit upon their passion.

Here’s to some of the incredible men and women, athletes, storytellers, adventurers, sleepless dreamers, the unsung documentary passion chasers!
