Advantages of Multilayer PCB

In high-speed PCB design, multilayer PCB is generally used. Multilayer PCB is made of several etched 1-layer PCB or 2-layer PCB bonded by lamination. Multilayer PCBs have many advantages over 1 layer PCB and 2 layer PCB.

1. Multi-layer PCB has high assembly density and small size. As the volume of electronic products becomes smaller and smaller, higher requirements are put forward for the electrical performance of PCB, and the demand for multi-layer PCB is also growing.

2. It is more convenient to use multi-layer PCB for laying, which shortens the length of laying, reduces the laying of electronic components, and increases the rate of data signal transmission.

3. For high-frequency circuits, when the signal line enters the ground layer, it produces stable low characteristic impedance to the ground. The characteristic impedance of power circuit is greatly reduced, and the interception effect is obvious.

4. For electronic products that require high heat-dissipating functions, a metal core heat-dissipating layer can be set on a multi-layer PCB to meet the requirements of shielding, heat-dissipating and other special functions.

In terms of performance, multilayer PCB is better than 1 layer PCB and 2 layer PCB, but the more layers there are, the higher the production cost, the longer the processing time and the more complex the quality detection is. However, in the same area of cost comparison, although the cost of multilayer PCB is higher than 1 layer PCB and 2 layer PCB, the cost difference between them is not significant considering the noise reduction factor.
