Advantages of Digital Thread For Auto and Aero Suppliers

Everyone is talking about "Digital Thread." But what are the advantages of Digital Thread, and why is it crucial for automotive and aerospace suppliers? At a high-level Digital Thread refers to the seamless flow of data and information that connects different stages of the product lifecycle, from design and development to manufacturing, maintenance, and end-of-life recycling. For automotive and aerospace suppliers, implementing Digital Thread provides several advantages:

Dan Wilson

I AM passionate about the Automotive and Aerospace industries, especially the design and production process and how these industries collaborate. I love to help these industries with CAD / PLM and anything related to Industry 4.0

My experience with these industries go way back to my childhood, having lived near a gas station/mechanic shop. I'd ride my bike to the end of the street and help wrench on a few cars they had as projects. Putting together many plastic model cars on a rainy Saturday / Sunday. My dad was a "backyard mechanic" always tinkering with his station wagon, or the latest car he found for a low price to fix and flip/sell. I bought my dad a 1975 Camaro for just $25 of my lawn cutting money and we had a great time tinkering with it.

I ended up buying my first car at 14 years old with my savings from three jobs.. 1976 Nova 2 door, my dad and I worked on it off and on for two years until I had my license. I'd sit in the car after school and could NOT wait to drive it...

To this day I have two antique vehicles a 78 Chevy 4x4 and a 58 Chevy Belair, my daughter and I enjoy tinkering (it's in the blood). I love the modernization of the cars and seeing how they've evolved and the future of EV.

My passion for Aerospace comes from my Great Grandfather, an MIT Mechanical Engineer grad, and my father in-law whom spent 50 years at Raytheon on the Patriot Missile Radar program. EVTOL is amazing the future is now!

I PROVIDE 18 years in CAD/PLM/FEA/CAM industry with a focus in the Manufacturing, Automotive, and Aerospace & Defense industries recommending digital engineering as well as services to clients to support strategic initiatives and business transformation associated with product development while enabling collaboration across all aspects of the organization.

WHAT I BRING:

  • Solid professional experience in providing robust business advice, assisting customers with evaluating and implementing solutions that drive sustainable innovation and value creation
  • Able to recommend software and services which support strategic initiatives and transformation associated with product development while enabling stakeholder collaboration

I am always looking to connect with like-minded people feel free to reach out on LinkedIn or via ? [email protected] I look forward to connecting with you.
