Advancing women in leadership at KOHO

At KOHO our top DEI priority is women advancing in leadership. In celebration of International Women’s Day, we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight why this matters to us and how we are supporting women in their growth at KOHO.

Why this matters to us

37% of our team members at KOHO identify as women. While that beats the big tech companies, we have room to improve. While 41% of our people managers are women, that drops to 25% of senior leadership positions. What are we doing to address this gap??

Showing our work

Here are three key ways we’re trying to walk our talk:

Inclusive culture

It’s important to us to lead with inclusion so that, as our organization becomes increasingly diverse, everyone feels welcome, respected and valued. Monthly meets provide community spaces for women to connect, network and provide feedback to the company. Our quarterly speaker series highlights internal and external women leaders in the tech and startup space. And we’re using all of March to celebrate International Women’s Month and amplify women advancing in leadership with weekly events:

  • Panel discussion with women leaders on navigating change and career advancement at KOHO
  • IWD guest speaker Sara Panton, Founder & CEO of Vitruvi
  • Fighting Gender Bias facilitated workshop
  • Parental Leave roundtable for mothers and parents

Anti-biased hiring

While Tech remains a male-dominated industry, our Tech managers have done a great job ensuring our gender ratio stays consistent throughout the hiring funnel, with women comprising an even 20% of our Tech candidates, hires and exits. While we’re working to bring more women into our Tech team, today they’re getting a fair shot once they’re in the funnel. Our Talent team’s use of this data has allowed us to shift our resources from hiring bias to sourcing more candidates and developing those who are already here.

Leadership development

While every people leader at KOHO participates in inclusive leadership training, we’re going further by offering Triad Coaching: strategic relationship coaching between women (as well as folks who are underrepresented in leadership) and their direct manager so they can attack their development areas, connect with influencers, build their profile, and accelerate their path to their next role.

Onwards

The problem of gender inequality in our society and in our workplace remains a challenge, and there is so much more work to do. At KOHO we’re recommitting to continuing this work and to showing our results - we owe it to the outstanding women we work with, and who are worth celebrating today and every day.
