Advancing Sustainability by Tackling Water Scarcity
As urban development accelerates, the demand for water grows, exacerbating the issue of water scarcity. For a large-scale real estate development like Karle Town Centre, efficient water management is not just a necessity but a responsibility. In recognition of World Environment Day's focus on drought resilience, we delve into how Karle Infra is addressing this critical issue through innovative water management practices, with a spotlight on our cutting-edge Ultra Filtration System.
Ultra Filtration System: The Heart of Water Management
The Ultra Filtration System is pivotal in Karle Infra's water conservation efforts. This advanced technology, integrated with our Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), removes 90-100% of pathogens and impurities, ensuring water can be safely reused. The process involves forcing water through a semipermeable membrane, filtering out organic matter, viruses, and some salts, resulting in stable and predictably high-quality water. These membranes are made from Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) resulting in their high strength, chemical resistance, and durability. With a pore size range of 0.02 to 0.05 microns, they effectively remove bacteria, viruses, colloids, and other particulates from water. Unlike other methods, Ultra Filtration requires no chemicals for cleaning, making it an environmentally friendly solution that demands minimal energy and space. With kilolitres of water used daily at Karle Town Centre, optimizing every drop is crucial. STP-treated water, purified through Ultra Filtration, is recycled for flushing and landscaping, ensuring 100% of this system's water is reused. Domestic water needs are met with a blend of fresh water and harvested rainwater, significantly reducing the strain on local freshwater resources. Efficient rooftop designs and runoff structures enable the collection of 100% of rainwater from our buildings. The rainwater that is collected and filtered provides nearly 30% of the water required for domestic use, [LV1]?with this percentage increasing during heavy monsoons. Kitchen and pantry drains are filtered for solid wastes and treated through the STP, ensuring every drop is recycled and repurposed.
