Advancing Namibia's Oil & Gas Sector

Kaeso, a leading regional content service company, has been a major player in the oil and gas sector for over a decade, with operations spanning Angola and Namibia. Specializing in downhole tools, asset management, maintenance services, and consulting, Kaeso has earned a reputation as a reliable partner to industry giants such as Total, Azule, Chevron, Galp, SLB, Halliburton, and Baker. The company's ability to deliver both niche and high-volume services has positioned it as a key player in the region's oil and gas industry.

In Namibia, Kaeso is pursuing an ambitious strategy that blends commercial success with a strong commitment to social impact. The company has become the first to establish a state-of-the-art workshop in Lüderitz, strategically located near the Orange Basin, which is still preparing for the anticipated boom in oil and gas activity. With 28,500 square meters of open land and 1,500 square meters of fully equipped workshops, Kaeso is ready to support any oil and gas service company looking to establish operations in Lüderitz. This move is part of Kaeso's broader efforts to contribute to the economic development of the region and help Lüderitz prepare for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

"Namibia has proven to be a land of tremendous opportunity," says Kaeso's leadership. Over the years, the company has successfully tapped into local talent and sourced the products and services it needs, benefiting from robust support from various stakeholders. However, one significant challenge remains: the visa process. Namibia's current visa regulations have not yet caught up with the fast-paced demands of the oil and gas industry. Despite this, Kaeso remains optimistic that as the sector continues to grow, necessary adjustments will be made, and the visa issue will be resolved.

Kaeso's priorities in Namibia are twofold. First, the company seeks to secure business and contracts that will allow it to recover its investment and drive further growth. At the same time, Kaeso is deeply committed to developing its Namibian workforce. A shining example of this is a Namibian technician currently undergoing training in Angola to accelerate his learning and technical skills. Second, Kaeso aims to share its expertise with local companies to promote and boost local content in the oil and gas industry. By doing so, Kaeso fosters the development of competitive, sustainable businesses that deliver tangible value to customers and the broader economy.

As part of its ongoing efforts to support local content, Kaeso actively sponsors initiatives such as the Namibian Local Content Conference. This event brings together key industry players to discuss and advocate for the inclusion of Namibian companies in the oil and gas value chain. Kaeso also backs institutions like the Namibian Youth Energy Forum, a dynamic group of young people eager to learn about and engage in the energy sector. These efforts underscore Kaeso's dedication to nurturing the next generation of industry leaders. Kaeso encourages Namibians to approach the oil and gas sector with curiosity and confidence. "The oil and gas industry is like any other," the company notes. "Success comes from learning, persistence, and resilience." While access to markets, finance, technology, and operational expertise is critical, Kaeso is encouraged by the fact that many of these requirements are already being addressed by both state and private institutions. The company believes that Namibian companies are well-positioned for success compared to other African nations. Although challenges remain, Kaeso is confident that with time, effort, and dedication, Namibians will thrive in the global oil and gas industry.

In short, Kaeso's vision for Namibia is one of long-term growth, sustainability, and inclusivity. The company is dedicated to making a lasting impact in both the business and social spheres, contributing to a prosperous and dynamic future for Namibia's oil and gas sector.
