Welcome to The Short, IBM Research's recap of the latest innovations in AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, and the cloud.
Week of September 3 - 9, 2024
In this week's edition:
Launch day for RHEL AI
On September 5th, Red Hat opened up its RHEL AI platform — that’s short for Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI — to all developers. The new platform makes it much easier for businesses to develop, test, and deploy generative models. It includes many of the Granite models incubated here at IBM Research, along with the model improvement method InstructLab, which we’ve featured here before. Sign up for a Red Hat account and try it out today.
Qiskit Serverless sets the stage for Qiskit Functions in the cloud
Private previews of Qiskit Serverless are now available, enabling users to work with both classical and quantum resources in the cloud. This powerful programming model is well suited for complex, long-running tasks and regularly executed workflows. In this new blog, learn how Qiskit Serverless works and see how IBM Research scientists have been improving it lately.
A toxic language filter built for speed
IBM’s new AI filter for hateful, abusive, and profane (HAP) text is built for speed!?Small enough to run on a CPU, and quick enough to catch HAP-related text at each phase of the LLM lifecycle, from pre-processing to inferencing. IBM just open sourced granite-guardian-hap-38m on Hugging Face as part of a larger goal to make HAP detection as fast and straightforward as a spellcheck.

Bringing your own custom foundation model to IBM watsonx.ai
We're introducing the latest feature update to?watsonx.ai, an open framework where users can access a catalogue of built-in models and patterns. With this update, users can also import custom foundation models, enabling you to bring in the best tool for the task, even if it resides outside of watsonx.ai. Read the full list of supported model architecture types and try out IBM watsonx.ai for free.

4 个月The artificial magnetic waves cause the increase of radiation of the Sun. It is the same as the electricity causes blackbody radiation. AI is just an advanced tool. AI can create huge deepfakes. AI can cause more and more people losing their jobs. AI is creating more and more artificial magnetic wave applications and wasting more and more energy. So, we need to reduce the artificial magnetic wave applications, especially wireless applications. We don't need innovations/wars which make human's consciousness go to heaven/hell. The big data is wrong. People need to know how to do basic mathematics, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Value cannot increase lineally or exponentially because goods are limited. Wireless blackbody radiation demonstration @ 5:41 @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw3sfhW3Bt0

Matter represents space. Modern science has a huge space and time confusion. Modern biology and chemistry are deepfakes. Molecular formula is a sign language which can only represent matters. People can only see matter but cannot see molecular formula because molecular formula is not a reality. For example, carbon dioxide can be understood as three nitrogen two hydrogen which is acid. Carbohydrate can be understood as Azide compounds. Three nitrogen two hydrogen can be absorbed more easily by Azide compounds. The chemical formulas are depended on human's understandings. There are many ways to define chemical formula. We just achieve common views on chemical formula.
