Advancing Australian Manufacturing

On Tuesday, 9 May, Australian Manufacturing Week 2023 (AMW) will officially kick off in Melbourne for what promises to be an inspiring opportunity to collaborate, share ideas and learn from companies at the forefront of advanced manufacturing and technological excellence.

From 9 May – 12 May, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre will be transformed into a hub of technological innovation and capability. Across four days, attendees will have the opportunity to experience innovative technologies and network with the innovators spearheading a technological revolution. Each of the four days of AMW has a dedicated theme:

·????????Day 1 Theme: AM Hub Digital and Additive Manufacturing

·????????Day 2 Theme: Women In Manufacturing

·????????Day 3 Theme: A Celebration of Australian Manufacturing

·????????Day 4 Theme: Innovation and Research

Each of the themes for AMW 2023 represents an opening for businesses and industries to embrace change and drive progress.

I am particularly excited by the opportunity for Victorian businesses to showcase their locally driven innovation and capabilities. Victoria has a long and proud history of leading the way in advanced manufacturing. With over 250,000 people employed by more than 23,000 manufacturing firms, Victoria accounts for around 30 per cent of Australia’s manufacturing output.

To support the State’s thriving advanced manufacturing industry, the Victorian Government recently published the ‘Made in Victoria 2030 – Manufacturing Statement’.

This document outlines the State Government’s plans to support local capabilities in areas such as zero and low emissions technologies, health technologies, food manufacturing, defence, and digital technologies. Advanced manufacturing will play an integral role in the success of many of Victoria’s major projects, including the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the Fishermans Bend Innovation Precinct.

This is where we come in.

I am proud of ICN Victoria’s long-held relationship with the advanced manufacturing industry. Throughout our (nearly) 40-year history, we have worked with many local businesses at the forefront of technology and innovation, supporting and facilitating their connection to major projects. I am thrilled to see that so many of these businesses will be exhibiting at AMW 2023.

If you’re attending AMW 2023, I encourage you to come and talk with us and the brilliant local firms we assist.

I am thrilled to share that our national office, ICN Limited will also be exhibiting, along with a special guest, so please don’t hesitate to approach us for a conversation. We’ll also be showcasing some particularly innovative emerging technologies from local manufacturers; you won’t want to miss it!
