Advancing Agriculture: WasteX, YBTS, and AdaKarbon's Biochar Training in Central Java

On September 7, 2024, an impactful training session for farmers took place at the WasteX Biochar Facility in Botolambat Village, Kandeman District, Batang Regency, Central Java. The event marked the inauguration of the second Wastex Biochar Facility in the region and included a comprehensive introduction to biochar and the project itself.

The event saw the participation of 68 attendees, comprising farmers specializing in vegetables, rice, corn and secondary crops from various villages in Kandeman District. Also present were village heads, agricultural extension workers from the Kandeman Agricultural Extension Center (PPL BPP Kandeman), and representatives from the Batang Food and Agriculture Office.

The agenda was meticulously crafted to provide attendees with insightful information and practical knowledge. Yayasan Agathis Dammara Karbon (Adakarbon) (AdaKarbon) delivered an engaging presentation on biochar, emphasizing its numerous benefits in agriculture and other fields. Yayasan Bina Tani Sejahtera (YBTS) conducted a session on crop rotation, seed selection and sowing techniques, providing farmers with valuable insights to enhancing their farming practices.

The event culminated with an informative session by WasteX, which outlined the project's mission and objectives. WasteX representatives also explained how farmers could register as beneficiaries and demonstrated the practical applications methods for biochar.

This training session not only equipped the local farming community with essential knowledge and resources but also highlighted the commitment of YBTS, WasteX, and AdaKarbon to promoting sustainable agricultural practices and environmental conservation.
