Advancing Affordable Housing Policy in a New Administration and Congress.

This week, as the National Urban League Washington Bureau gears up for our 2017 State of Black America Empowerment Summit featuring the 14th annual Legislative Policy Conference, we convened a panel to discuss the ways that we can advance affordable housing policy in this new Administration and Congress.
In this critical and uncertain time, as the new Administration reaches its 100 day mark and the 115th Congress gets into full swing and as such, the Urban League Movement must think strategically about the ways in which we can continue moving our momentum forward, while protecting the funding we need to serve underserved and vulnerable communities.
I provided opening remarks for the panel which featured distinguished, expert panelists from the housing and financial sector including, Pete Carroll, Executive Vice President of Quicken Loans, Gerron Levi, Director of Policy and Government Affairs at the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, Alanna McCargo, Co-director of the Housing Finance Policy Center at the Urban Institute, and Steve O'Connor, Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Government Relations at the Mortgage Bankers Association. The informative and impactful panel was organized by Kyle Williams, our Director of Financial and Housing Policy and moderated by Cy Richardson, our Senior Vice President for Economic and Housing Programs.
