We need each other.
We have this whole dream of not just being ordinary and we are not, but we are not exceptional like in the movies.
Archetypes put pressure on our performance.
Dopamine plays with our brain and our needs.
It would be great if we didn't have big problems to solve so we could spend time playing in fantasy worlds. We'd be looking for amazing entertainment, out-of-this-world experiences, a fleeting and memorable moment that won't last long.
This is simply not the case. We must be responsible.
We have brought our planet to a critical point, and we are waiting for someone else to do something about it. It may not be too late, let's hope it's not too late to fight ego and disengagement.
As a communicator, I have decided not to create an experience where the wow effect is a goal in itself. Technical or technological spins are not sustainable. All the energy expended lasts for a few seconds, the time it takes to take a picture, and then there's nothing left. No ideas or new thinking.
Maybe I'm idealistic about the power of art and media, maybe because I can't see any other way to be passionate about what I do. When I imagine what I want people to experience, I think of a cuddle that slowly warms our hearts; I think of a gentle whisper in our ears that says: "Look how simple and beautiful things could be, be generous and inspire generosity, be humble, be simple, now open your eyes." I think about creating human connections that inspire compassion. I want to slow down the need for frantic attention so that we can truly appreciate what is around us. I want to make this light that is flitting around stop so that our eyes can truly see.
Be real, be slow, and remind me when I am not. Because we need each other.

2 年I like to think about how we can use technology to create a visceral experience to a perhaps abstract concept or enhance our relationship with the world around us or with each other as opposed to an escape from.

2 年Great post Gonzalo. Agreed. (Re)engaging people with the reality by allowing them to truly experience its beauty and complexity, can provide long lasting and transformative experiences. There are real treasures to be found in the exploration of our senses and interactions with the surrounding world. Let’s hope to help people thrive by offering them to anchor, not to escape.
