Adopting Change in a Daily Routine

Adopting Change in a Daily Routine

1. WHAT SUBJECT I’M CURIOUS ABOUT

Let's keep this week's dialogue short and sweet. It is Saturday and our Mastermind registrations have closed. The first two groups commence on Monday so this weekend we are busy preparing.

I find that regardless of how many programs I deliver, there is always something about that opening session on the first morning. The adrenalin is pumping a little harder than usual, as the anticipation builds.

One thing I learnt early in my sports career however was the importance of an optimized routine to take away unnecessary nervousness and heighten my performance.

My routine is typically as follows.

  • I'm normally awake at 4:45 am and spend 15 minutes meditating and collecting my thoughts around the day's proceedings.
  • By 5:05 am, I'm out the door for a brisk 45-60 minute walk.

Depending on where I am, that might be alongside the local river pathway or if I'm traveling it's likely around the streets of the hotel.

  • Breakfast between 6:30 and 7:00 am and then?final equipment checks and a look through my notes and presentation.

I try to make a point of staying wherever the event is being held so as to avoid unwanted traffic frustration.?

  • 30 - 45 minutes before we go live I find my place to chill, and listen to my selected playlist,
  • 20 minutes before we commence I run through my 5-activity set of practices to ramp up my energy and get me centered,
  • 10 minutes before I will open my material and the online session or be seated backstage waiting and listening to the general busyness around me, and when possible, engage in conversation.?

What does your morning routine look like? Do you have one? If not, you might be surprised by how much more functional you could become and how much you can improve your performance. ?
