With Waterford fielding Meath native Jack Fagan in Sunday’s 2020 All-Ireland final, we delved into the archives to locate the men in whose footsteps he follows. While non-natives heavily populated Dublin hurling teams in their 24?All-Ireland final appearances between 1889 and 1961 the fielding of non-natives in hurling’s blue riband event by the other counties is not nearly as prevalent, Fagan becoming just the 30th in 110 years …

Note: Johnny Quirke (Cork) and Ned Wheeler (Wexford) though born in Kerry and Laois respectively seem to have played all their hurling in Cork and Wexford.

4 年Leo, Any thoughts on the way hurling is going? So much handpassing,very little 50/50 tussle for possession, short passing ,passing the ball backwards ,the "wildness" is gone in favour of systems,getting harder to watch to be honest, John
