Adopt Overall Wellness as a Holistic Goal for Success- Dr.Nalini advises GGNIMTians?

Covid has posed the biggest challenge to our society in recent times, necessitating a change in our Behaviours, Attitudes, Life styles and also processes and systems. However the change though essential has also resulted in stress and anxiety which can be handled only by its acceptance and efforts to mitigate its adverse impact. It is with these objectives that Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology, (GGNIMT) Civil Lines, organized its 100th Webinar on “Post Covid Mental and Emotional Health”, were the views expressed by Prof. Manjit S Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT while welcoming the distinguished resource person Dr. Nalini Dwarakanath. He added that COVID-19, had left many?people?with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues due to long periods of isolation,?job losses, financial difficulties, and grief from the deaths of loved ones, so?it was important for the society to evolve a suitable response.

Dr. Nalini Dwarakanath, Principal, MVM College, Bengaluru asserted that “ Notwithstanding emotional and physical trauma caused due to the Pandemic, It is most important for us to develop as a society that values compassion and understanding of challenges faced by individuals.”?She also advised the participants to understand the subtle differences between holistic wellness and physical health. Dr. Nalini advocated the pursuit of wellness?both for individuals and society as it would lead to an?overall balance of Social, Spiritual, Physical, Emotional and Intellectual wellbeing. She emphasized on the need for individuals and society to invest time and energy on?de-stressing?and relaxing people who are facing?mental health issues due to COVID-19. Umang, BBA 2nd student, said that attending the session helped him understand the importance of Holistic Wellness, while?Annapurna,?from MBA 2nd felt that, she would be better prepared to meet the disruptions due to changes in online and offline?modes of classes and exams. Dr. Parvinder Singh, Principal, GGNIMT?thanked Dr. Nalini for highlighting the issues and challenges faced by society due to Covid. He hoped that students would act upon the strategies suggested?by Dr. Nalini, for their personal and professional success.
