Adopt A Jewish Student (Mothers Against Campus Antisemitism)
An amazing new Adopt A Jewish Student initiative has been launched by the huge MACA group on Facebook - Mothers Against Campus Antisemitism (61.5K members). What's this about? It's about Jewish moms who live near universities looking after other Jewish students.
According to the form the kids can come over for a home cooked meal, have their laundry done, spend quality family time and even sleep over for the holidays or special occasions - Wow!!! MACA is even reimbursing Moms for expenses like travel.
So far there are hundreds of positive comments on the posts, with moms joining in all over the country - and some even all the way over in the UK (!) wanting to participate. I even saw one comment where a woman said, I'm not Jewish but would love to host a Jewish student in my home.
If you follow what I write on a regular basis, you'll see that I'm mainly concerned with one thing and that is keeping the Jews safe.
What a tremendous example of mutual responsibility that I'm always talking about. That's all we really need to reverse this situation.
If you follow what I write on a regular basis, you'll see that I'm mainly concerned with one thing and that is keeping the Jews safe. So I may sound critical at times but what I'm trying to do is show THE RIGHT way to make all this go away - and that's by coming together to discuss important issues - and what could be more important than keeping our kids safe? It's not easy to do this on our own, but together we can always make a positive impact.
This is such a beautiful example of mutual support that is so aligned with the essence of Jewish values - treat others like you would want them to treat you.

I'm so thrilled that all these Moms have united around such an important topic of keeping their kids safe, which is why I try not criticize because whatever they're doing is very important.
But I hope they'll soon realize that the petitions, protesting and campaigns can only do so much. To see a real shift we have to move out of our comfort zone a bit and that comes from connecting with people we don't normally connect with.
So I'm excited to see the positive ripples from this initiative throughout Jewish communities everywhere.
MACA is one of the most active groups on Facebook, as mothers try to keep their kids safe despite the rising violence and antisemitism on campuses across America.
I have to say very honestly that these women are very brave. I wouldn't send my child into such a toxic environment. All the negative activism, bad examples, and bad thoughts both sides are thinking about each other, the parents against the administration, and the list goes on and on. Basically it's a war zone. No matter how you prepare your child for this, even if they are not threatened or attacked they are going to be impacted by this toxic environment.
Look at this horrible advice Charlie Kirk gives an Israeli student who's been attacked on campus. Well first of all thanks for being super-supportive of Israel Charlie ... but his advice? For this kid to get into serious shape so he can protect himself. Yes - that's how bad things have gotten in America. But what I love about this clip is how Charlie says "no one is coming to protect you": "The police aren't going to protect you. The president of the university won't protect you. It's hunting season for Jews in this country right now and that's a sick thing. ... Jews are open for targeting right now by the radical Arab left."
(P.S. The post photo above is of Jewish Moms in Miami from my friend's account - nothing to do with MACA though some of them are in the group. Cue to a glitch I can't write a caption ....)
