Number 9 of the Honor Bound Academy’s was inspired by Menegroth in Doriath, its name – Nargothrond.?Again, from Tolkien’s mind another creation, a hidden place that was to be safe from the forces of Morgoth.?The Silmarillion continues to draw out mythology in stunning fashion.?In this book, the storyline has Finrod establishing Nargothrond in the early years following the return of the Noldor to Middle-Earth, in the caverns of Narog beneath the forested hills of Taur-en-Foroth on the western bank of the Narog River.?In this endeavor he was aided by the Dwarves of Nogrod, however, Finrod was not the first to delve into those caves: in prior days it had been inhabited by the petty dwarves who called it Nubikkizdin before they were driven out by the elven folk.?Originally, a narrow path along the banks of the river could only reach it, but later a bridge was built across the Narog.?For placement within the continental United States of this Honor Bound Academy, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan has been chosen.?Also, from the state of Michigan comes our Patron Lawrence Edward Page, he too originally from Lansing, Michigan.
Mr. Lawrence Edward Page as Patron is an American software engineer and internet entrepreneur.?He is best known as one of the co-founders of Google.?Mr. Page is the co-inventor and namesake of Pagebook, a search ranking algorithm for Google.?During an interview, Lawrence Edward Page recalled his childhood noting that his house “was usually a mess, with computers, science, and technology magazines all over the place.”?There was also a description of a father who earned a PhD in computer science as the field was just being established, and a mother who was an instructor in computer programming.?Young Lawrence Edward was first attracted to computers when he was six years old, as he was able to “play with the stuff lying around” – nearly all first-generation personal computers – left lying about by his mother and father.
Thanks to his older brother he was taught to take things apart and before long he was taking “everything in his house apart to see how it worked.”?Mr. Page said, “from a very early age, I also realized I wanted to invent things.”?Went on to say, “probably from when I was 12, I knew I was going to start a company eventually.”?From here, I deem it not improper to present at this moment the history of the last race of Native Americans now existing in the state of Michigan, called the Ottawa and Chippewa Nations of American natives.

The Ottawa were widely known as traders; their location and negotiating skills enabled them to become middlemen in intertribal commerce.?They too were Algonquian-speaking North American Indians whose original territory focused on the Ottawa River, the French River, and Georgian Bay, in present-day Northern Michigan.?Here exemplifies, “the purpose and meaning of why to incorporate Native American tradition and heritage with the various Honor Bound Academy’s, to better understand I offer these words found in “the Lamentation of the Overflowing Heart of the Red Man of the Forest.”?Hark! “What is that I hear, so mournfully ringing in my ear, like a death song of warriors, for those who fell by their brave sires? Is this the wail now sounding for my unhappy future??O my destiny, my destiny! How sinks my heart, as I behold my inheritance all in ruins and desolation. Yes, desolation; the land the Great Spirit has given us in which to live, to roam, to hunt, and build our council fires, is no more to behold.”?
To reverse the course of actions inflicted upon these ancient people from so long ago, to make new again what was once a natural nature at the very heart of their being.?To bring balance forward for the purpose of healing old wounds.?To again attain what gave strength by living life in accord with a natural nature, to re-invigorate to its very heart, all anew.?
Hence too, the Special Forces that are tasked with this shared responsibility are the United States Air Force Combat Control Teams, singular “Combat Controllers.”?As with all the various HBA instructors CCT’s bring about their own unique perspectives.?The mission of a Combat Controller is to deploy undetected into combat and hostile environments to conduct special reconnaissance, and establish assault zones or airfields, while simultaneously conducting air traffic control, fire support, command, control, and communication along with forward air control.?
Throughout a nearly two yearlong initial training, with a wash-out rate upwards of 90 – 95% makes this training among the most rigorous in the U.S. military.?To merge its patron Lawrence Edward Page, Nargothrond, the state of Michigan, the Ottawa, and their 21 Precepts or Moral Commandments, linked with the CCT motto: “First There,” will reaffirm a commitment to undertake a mission that will lead the way so all others can follow.
