We are moving on and now come to the fourth (4) Honor Bound Academy (HBA), Menegroth, Menegroth the fair, and Menegroth the great, Menegroth the thousand caves they will call it.?It will undoubtedly be an engineering marvel.?Where Khazad-Dum was built by digging a hole, creating a structure, and then burying it, Menegroth will be different.?
Dispersed throughout the state of Oregon are sprawling systems of caves.?Some run for several dark miles just beneath the desert floor, others open up to the light of day thanks to skylights in their roof.
The Patron of Menegroth is a native of Oregonian, an American business magnate, and philanthropist.?Philip Hampson Knight is a co-founder and current chairmen emeritus of Nike, Inc.?His education at the University of Oregon earned him a journalism degree.?Immediately after graduating Mr. Knight enlisted in the Army and served one year on active duty and seven years in the Army Reserve.?He next enrolled at Stanford Graduate School of Business.?What makes Philip Knight rare is his athleticism, whereas a middle-distance runner, his best time at one (1) mile in 4 minutes, 10 seconds making him world-class and perfect to blend in with the Nez Perce.
Their name, Nez Perce, was popularized by French explorers and trappers.?They themselves are named Nimiipuu, meaning “The People,” in their own language.?The mythology along with sacred concepts adheres to a “Great Spirit,” which constitutes the basis of Native American theory, the tribes believed in multiple deities, surrounding mythology.?As with the “Great Spirit,” he was seen with every wind; seen in every cloud; feared him in sounds, and adore him in every place that inspires awe.?While cultures and customs varied among tribes, they all believed that the universe was bound together by spirits of natural life.?These strong and spirited people managed to keep their many legends and stories alive.?Passed down through the generations, these many tales speak of timeless messages of peace, life, death, and harmony with nature.
For this segment, I’ll introduce into the equation a merging of the Special Forces Operators assigned to Patron Philip Hampson Knight, the Nez Perce, and Menegroth as being mentored by instructors of the United States Army Rangers.?History is so important, remembering it, or more importantly making it is paramount.?The earliest mention of Ranger operations comes from Captain John “Samuel” Smith, who wrote in 1622, “When I had ten men able to go abroad, our commonwealth was very strong with such a number, I or it should be said we ranged that unknown country, 14 weeks.?The word range, ranging, and Ranger was frequently used, “The American Ranger had been born.”?The father of American Ranging is Colonel Benjamin Church (1639-1718).?A Captain at this time, he designed his force primarily to emulate Native American patterns of war.?The Colonel learned to fight like Native Americans from Native Americans.?Americans became rangers exclusively under the tutelage of the Native American allies.?Rangers depended on Native Americans as both allies and teachers.
This is where we can see that history does, can, and will often repeat itself.?Regarding the three previous realms (Khazad-Dum, Gondolin, and Minas Tirith), this Honor Bound Academy (HBA) of Menegroth, along with the six other HBA’s to come, will merge a Patron, a Tolkien Citadel, the Special Forces unit, along with the natural harmonizing myths and sacred ways of the Native Americans, also known as the original or first Americans.
