Adobe Launch: Comparison of Product String Extensions
Search Discovery released the very awesome and super helpful Adobe Launch Extension for populating the product string in Adobe Launch named AA Product String Builder.
However, we already have an extension by Adobe Consulting Services with the same functionality named "Adobe Analytics Product String".
Both extensions spare us the pain of traversing through the dataLayer in a custom Javascript Data Element and multiple rounds of QA.
In this post, I will be comparing these tools.
Adobe Analytics Product String by Adobe Consulting Services
The official extension by ACS is very easy to use and implement. It ask for which event type ("prodView", "scCheckout") to use and accordingly populates the field.
It is super easy to populate the product string on Order Confirmation Page with multiple product in an array of object (screenshot above).
However, the extension does not provide option to populate custom events of product string and Merchandising eVars out of box.

This extension is also very easy to implement but not so straight forward as the previous extension. Also, it does not ask for which event type ("prodView", "scCheckout") to use.
Apart from that, IMHO, it is a much better extension.
- It allows us to set "Product String Custom Events" and "Product String Merchandising Evars" inside the extension itself.
- Tooltips to help us understand the purpose of each field that we are using.
- Customization based on our need.
- And a super cool debug feature.
Another extension providing the same functionality is "Adobe Analytics Product String Configuration" by "Blast Analytics & Marketing". I have not use this extension much. It is not much well documented and not very intuitive.
Please let me know your experience of using any of these tools. Also, I am looking forward for any tips and tricks that you guys are using in Adobe Launch.

3 年Hi Partha, how does this extension work when there are multiple products in the array? So let's say there is product ID 1, product quantity 1, product price 1 + product ID 2, product quantity 2, product price 2. What data element path needs to be listed in the settings to be able to capture both products 1 and 2? Thank you in advance!

5 年Hey partha I would love for you to test out the Blast one and give feedback. It's in much better state now and we should be releasing an update in about 2 months with more features. We could integrate feedback you have if it comes soon.?
