Adobe Analytics comes to Google Cloud Platform

Adobe Analytics comes to Google Cloud Platform

Two of the biggest webanalytics solution providers have been slugging it out for far too long it seems, and now probably is the time for them to come together, atleast sort of come together. I am a big fan of Big Data and analytics platform of GCP, BigQuery, and the fact that now we can transfer Adobe Analytics data within GCP through BigQuery is absolutely fantastic piece of news.

I will just quickly show you the steps to do the same. You can quickly get into your BQ console, I personally like the new UI, so I will stay there :) Now look into the left panel, and you will see the button for Transfers as shown in the image below.

Click on create transfer if you get this message

Now you will get the option to select your data source, in the drop down button you will get many of the famous sources, Adobe Analytics is not generally available by default, so now you can click on Explore data

You can search for Adeobe analytics in the search bar, essentially you will have to look for connector of Adobe Analytics by Supermetrics

If you already have Adobe Analytics account, click on configure, if not, then you can also look into the sample data

Now you will get a simple form that you will have to fill in details like transfer name, transfer schedule (which can be daily, weekly, monthly, custom or on demand), then destination dataset. Now all you will have to do is easily connect with the source, by following on screen instructions.

Once you have connected Adobe Analytics with BigQuery, you will get the following tables-

  1. Adobe Ecommerce: Which details your ecommerce activities, products, orders, revenue, units
  2. Adobe landing pages: Table with details about the landing pages data, bounce, entries etc.
  3. Adobe Pages: pages report with metrics like pageviews, entries, exits, bounces etc.
  4. Adobe browser: With dimension of browsers you can see metrics of bounces, instances, pageviews, visitors, visits
  5. Adobe traffic geo: You can see traffic metrics with dimensions on city, country, region etc.
  6. Adobe traffic paid search: With paid search details you can see major traffic and conversion metrics
  7. Adobe traffic source: Here you will be able to see the referrer details with traffic and conversion metrics
  8. Adobe traffic system: This is the table where you will get system details like OS, Connection type, along with traffic and conversion system
  9. Adobe visit: Here you can get visit duration, visit number along with traffic and conversion metrics

Now you might notice that custom variables, whether that be traffic and/or conversion variable, nothing is listed in the tables above, because these variables aren't really available within these tables. I believe that the start has been made, and soon we will be able to ingest all Adobe reports within BQ with native integration, but for now atleast a pipeline is available. If you want rest of the reports, BQ gives you quite a few options to upload data.

If you want to learn more about BQ, I would request you to go through the documentation by clicking here.

Collaboration is definitely the way to future, though don't know if Adobe itself was involved with having such an integration with GCP, but I believe that Adobe and Google coming together will only benefit clients, agencies and even both these supper massive organizations.

Kunal Mehta thanks for sharing. I am curious did you test the FiveTran connector as well? Here at Mixpanel we see many companies leveraging customer data platforms like Segment to share data across their data and app ecosystem. I agree that it would be great and benefit to all if Adobe and Google built out more integrations to enable customers to leverage data in other platforms.
