It is tremendously exciting to see two Enersol companies – Gordon Technologies, LLC and EV – expand into an area of renewable energy that is in its infancy, and shows the incredible untapped potential of our technology, and that which is to come.

Geothermal energy, which is produced from natural heat in the Earth’s crust, is becoming increasingly in demand for heating and cooling and to generate electricity because it is renewable and reliable. Geothermal energy is not weather-dependent – it can operate 24/7 and ramp up or down according to demand. It also has a much smaller impact on the environment, as it is both compact and requires 75 percent less energy than traditional heating and cooling systems.

The production of geothermal energy is expected to more than double to 37.2B kWh by 2050, according to statistics in the US, which produces about 25 percent of all geothermal energy globally. That is huge potential for Enersol.

Gordon Technologies, an Enersol company, is ahead of the game. The hotter a geothermal well is, the more productive – and therefore efficient – it is. This is why geothermal production is more common close to volcanic activity, in countries such as the US, Indonesia and Iceland.

Gordon’s measurement-while-drilling (MWD) technology is specifically designed for high temperatures – we’re talking 200 degrees Celsius. Very few companies can provide technology that can withstand such high temperatures, positioning Gordon Technologies at the forefront of the industry. Its technology will play an important role in developing the UAE’s unconventional energy and is now also proving its value in geothermal energy.

Gordon completed 7 geothermal wells in the US in 2024 and expects the number to grow exponentially in the near future. With its Abu Dhabi facility becoming Gordon’s Eastern Hemisphere headquarters, the company plans to access other geothermal markets from the UAE.

Another Enersol company, EV, is also playing a critical role in the advancement of geothermal energy, as part of the Utah FORGE Project. The US Government-sponsored program is pioneering the technologies needed to create, sustain, and monitor enhanced geothermal systems (EGS), with the aim to unlock geothermal energy as a reliable resource worldwide.

On this project, EV utilized its combined video and ultrasound technology, ClearVision?, in conjunction with advanced PerforationVA and PlugVA visual analytics to assess downhole conditions. This provided the well operators with a full circumferential view of the wellbore, enabling outstanding visibility and decision making. It also demonstrated the value of EV’s technology in the future of geothermal energy.?

To see Enersol’s technology expanding into areas beyond oil and gas is momentous. We expect it to spur even more innovation as renewable energy advances.

When we created Enersol, a joint venture between ADNOC Drilling and Alpha Dhabi, sustainability was one of our key priorities.
