adi held their annual management awayday on the 14th of October and this year we teamed up with? The Battle Back Centre Lilleshall for our chosen charity of the day. We are very passionate when it comes to charity and are always willing to go the extra mile for charitable causes and this year was no different.
The Battle Back Centre Lilleshall was established by the Royal British Legion in 2011 to support wounded and injured service personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
?This year we set a challenge to the management team to build a fleet of wheelchairs to donate to the centre. The management team were split up into 12 teams and the aim of the event was to complete mind and physical tasks to win money to buy components to build wheelchairs. The pride care and attention that everyone took in this event was overwhelming and heartfelt. We are so proud of everyone who took part in this event but most of all we are so happy to have been able to handover a new fleet of wheelchairs for that was so graciously received.
"I write with immense gratitude to everyone at adi Group involved in the fantastic fundraising event that resulted in the Battle Back Centre recently being gifted twelve multi-sport wheelchairs. My understanding is that this was the result of a charity event that challenged adi Group employees to win the various component parts required to assemble the wheelchairs. If so, I can confirm that the aim was achieved as we are now the grateful owners of a fleet of shiny new wheelchairs.
?This donation will seriously help us in supporting veterans and serving injured and sick service personnel with major disabilities. While we have some of our own sport wheelchairs, they are old, and we only have sufficient for those attending residential courses at the Battle Back Centre. This limits what we can do for veterans wishing to pursue a wheelchair sport as most of them cannot normally afford to purchase a chair for themselves. We will now have the flexibility to assist those wishing to take up wheelchair sports by loaning them a wheelchair for specific training camps and competitions. We conduct wheelchair basketball courses at Lilleshall and this sport is one that we will be able to pursue with much greater vigour in future. Watch out the Invictus Games.
?Please pass on our thanks to all those who played a part in this amazing challenge. Their combined effort together with that of the adi Group more generally in creating the fundraising opportunity is hugely appreciated. If any members of adi Group would like to come and see what we do at the Battle Back Centre, please do not hesitate to call. We would love to host you."
